Now that the holidays are winding down, there is not too much to look forward to until spring. I am not a fan of winter, and cold weather. One of my favorite ways to get through the winter months is with a good book. I have so many books I want to read this year. I am not making it a resolution to hit a certain number of books in a year, but just to choose reading over scrolling on my phone, or watching something on Netflix.
If you read my post from earlier this week, you read that I mentioned I want to start a personal book club for myself. Picking a new book each month that might be out of my normal comfort zone, or just peeks my interest.
I pulled together 10 books that would be great for grabbing a cozy blanket, cuddling up for a day in of reading. Let me know what is on your winter reading list!
The Royal We
An American girl finds her prince in this fun and flirty royal romance inspired by Prince William and Kate Middleton. Sounds right up my alley. I am fascinated with the Royal Family.
American Bex Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister Lacey was always the romantic, who daydreamed of being a princess. But it’s adventurous Bex who goes to Oxford and meets dreamy Nick – and she soon finds herself falling in love with the heir to the British throne.
Where the Crawdad Sings
I am a huge fan of Reese Witherspoon’s book club, and try to follow along as much as I can. This book was featured a few months ago. I haven’t been able to get my hands on it, but since Santa brought it I can now move it to the top of my list.
For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a small quaint town on the North Carolina coast. So when Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what the rumors say. A sensitive and intelligent young woman who has survived alone for years in the marsh that she calls home. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.
The Young Wives Club
In Toulouse, Louisiana finding your one true love happens sometime around high school. If you’re lucky, he might be the man you thought he was. But as four friends are about to find out, not every girl has luck on her side.
Something about this plot just intrigues me, and after reading the synopsis I think this will be a charming little novel to cozy up with and read this winter.
I found this book under the tree for me, so I am excited to break into it!
American Royals
I know I know another book about the Royals. But hear me out, what if America had a royal family? I can’t get enough of Harry and Meghan or Kate and William, so I am excited to read about the American princesses Beatrice and Samantha. Reviews said it is Crazy Rich Asians meets The Crown. I am thinking a classier version of the Kardashian family.
Two princesses vying for the ultimate crown.
Two girls vying for the prince’s heart.
This is the story of the American royals.

The Queen of Hearts
After reading the summary, my first thought was Grey’s Anatomy in a novel.
Zadie Anson and Emma Colley have been best friends since their early twenties, when they first began navigating the world of dating while juggling the intensity of medical school at the same time. Fast forward and they are both happily married wives and mothers with successful careers–Zadie as a pediatric cardiologist and Emma as a trauma surgeon. Their lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, are chaotic but happy, until the return of a former colleague spills a secret one of them has been keeping for years.
The Paris Seamstress
I am a huge fan of historical fiction novels, and this one spiked my interest.
1940: As the Germans advance upon Paris, young seamstress Estella Bissette is forced to flee everything she’s ever known. She’s headed to New York City with her signature gold dress, a few francs, and a dream: to make her mark in the world of fashion.
Present day: Fabienne Bissette journeys to the Met’s annual gala for an exhibit featuring the work of her grandmother – a legend of women’s fashion design. But as Fabienne begins to learn more about her beloved grandmother’s past, she uncovers a story of tragedy, heartbreak and family secrets that will dramatically change her own life.
The Art of French Kissing
Emma Sullivan is in Paris! Which would be great, except that she’s stuck doing public relations for one of the hottest — and craziest — rock stars on the planet. Making things worse is Gabriel Francoeur, the cute, but stubborn reporter who refuses to believe her when she says anything.
But Emma will always have Paris. The City of Light, of romance, of high fashion and of unfathomable amounts of cheese and wine. If a girl can’t reinvent herself here, there’s no hope! It’s time to leave the old Emma Sullivan behind and become someone courageous, exciting, and successful.
The Shoemaker’s Wife
A multigenerational love story that spans two continents, two World Wars, and the quest of two star-crossed lovers to find each other again. This book has also been on my list for awhile. I really like Adriana Trigiani and one of my favorite novels, “Lucia, Lucia” is written by her, so I am excited to read this one.
Another book that I got for Christmas! So now that I have my hands on it, there is no excuse to not crack it open.
The Nightingale
After hearing so much buzz about this book, it is time I pick it up to give it a read before it hits the big screen. I love reading the book before the movie comes out – anyone else?
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, this book captures the setting of World War II and illustrates a part of history that sometimes get surpassed: the women’s war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France―a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the strength of women.
The Regulars
Best friends Evie, Krista, and Willow are just trying to make it through their mid-twenties in New York. With average looks and typical quarter-life crises, they’re trying to make it up the corporate ladder, make sense of online dating, and make rent.
Until they come across Pretty, a magic pill that makes them gorgeous. Like, supermodel stunningly gorgeous. But there’s a dark side to Pretty, too, and as the gloss fades for these modern-day Cinderellas.
