What To Do On a Rainy Day?

02.25.19Lifestyle0

With spring right around the corner, it means that gray days full of thunderstorms are soon approaching. I am so not a fan of rainy days. I get life out of the sunshine, and I am just not someone who likes to sit at home and do nothing.

So seeing that I am writing this blog post as the rain is just dumping down from the skies, I figured I could try to brainstorm some fun activities for adults to do during rainy days.

Disney Movie Marathon

Now, I don’t know if it is just me, but I still love Disney movies. They are some of my favorite and I could watch the classics all day. However, to make it a little more fun I found a Disney movie drinking game, that will be sure to make a rainy day interesting. Check it out below:

Take a sip…

  • For every talking rodent in the film.
  • For every song you know all the words to.
  • Every time magic is referenced.
  • For every castle in the movie.
  • If you see the words “Once upon a time” on the screen.
  • If you see the words “The End” on the screen.
  • Every time a character boards a ship.
  • If the villain has a British accent.
  • Every time the annoying sidekick appears on screen.
  • Whenever there is a made-up word (followed by a song explaining it).
  • When there’s a spell.
  • When a kiss breaks the spell.
  • When a parent of the protagonist dies.
  • If the protagonist is kept in isolation against his/her will.

The person acting the most like Goofy at the end of the night wins. Sign me up to play, any takers?

Bake a treat

I am not talking about a simple chocolate chip cookie recipe, or a box of brownies you picked up from the grocery store. I am talking about those crazy looking delicious Facebook videos you always see on your feed. Pick one of those and try to make it. Even if it is a massive fail, I’m sure you will have fun either way. Whether it’s funnel cakes, or chocolate fondue, or a fun cake, or anything. Plus eating sugar is the best way to make a rainy day go by. I found this recipe for mini peanut butter cheesecakes, and the next rainy day you bet I will be in the kitchen making this.

Throw a fiesta

I mean, it’s always a good time for Mexican. So grab the blender, get all the avocados, and get ready to fiesta. You will make this gray and rainy day feel like a sunny summer day in no time. Throw together a batch of margaritas, I found this recipe for raspberry strawberry margaritas, and I cannot wait to try them. What goes great with margaritas… guacamole! Make your favorite guacamole from scratch and enjoy. If you’re anything like Mitch and I, we can never decide between guac or queso, so why not both? Make yourself some hot queso, and you will be set for the whole day. I found an easy recipe here that makes me want Mexican food pronto.

Spa Day

I find the sound of rain extremely soothing, so why not take advantage of the natural spa soundtrack going on outside, and enjoy some me time. Light a few candles, and use the sounds of the rain to help you relax and unwind. Take a bath with lavender bath salts to ensure ultimate relaxation. Try a homemade face mask to make your skin glow. I enjoy a coconut honey face mask to make my face as soft as a baby’s bottom. There are hundreds of different homemade face masks with ingredients that are already in your pantry. Hop onto Pinterest and see what you can find. After your bath, put on some silky jammies and curl up and read that book that you have been meaning to start in the new year.

Game Night

Battleship, Uno, Trouble, pick your poison and battle it out. It is good to let out your competitive side every once in a while. Pick a few of your favorite childhood games, or an adult game. The other night my friends and I played “That’s What She Said“, and we were practically rolling on the floor laughing so hard. It is basically an extreme adult version of apples to apples. It was so funny to see that side of everyone in our friend group, and just laugh the night away. Whether it is a board game, or a card game gather your friends and play it out.

Now the next time the weatherman says there is rain in the forecast, you are all set for how to keep yourself busy and out of a rainy day slump. Let me know if you try any of these tips!
