Thursday is Thanksgiving, and I wanted to take the chance to reflect on what I truly am thankful for this year. I hope this post really resonates with you because I got a bit more personal. I hope that this can reflect some authenticity and shed a little more light on what 2019 has been for me.
Growth
There are so many Pinterest quotes telling you to “grow every day”. For me, growth is anything but linear – it is kind of like a big web. Some days, I feel like I make leaps and bounds forward, and somedays, I may even take a step back. However wacky of a path it may be, I am really thankful for the growth I have had in 2019 so far.
Being the girl who has to plan every single minute of every day, to barely knowing where I am going to live at months at a time is a huge step. From moving away from my family for the first time in my life, to adjusting and accepting this new lifestyle full speed ahead.
There are some things that I have not felt ready to share with the world yet, but focusing on personal growth has been a goal of mine for the past few years. Whether it be accepting that it is okay to go to a coffeeshop alone and read a book, to showing up to blogger events without knowing a soul, and making new friends as an adult. I’ve been exposed to a lot of realities some tough, some exciting this year that have led to some difficult life lessons. However, I am grateful to have learned these now at 24 instead of down the road.
New Experiences
This year has been so full of new experiences for me. From being an engaged woman, to traveling, to those impromptu activities, I really tried to say yes to new things and not let anxiety, pressure, or anything get in the way. I have had some of the most fun of my life so far, and I cannot wait to see what experiences the new year will bring me! I am thankful for my health as well to allow me to do all these fun things!
Mitchell
Wow this year has been our year! I am so thankful that I met you this year, and even more thankful that we clicked and you turned into my best friend and the human I do not want to live another day without. Whoever would’ve thought that the cute jockey at Arlington would swoop me off my feet and turn my life into its own fairytale. Of course we are still figuring out the tiniest of details about each other and we have our ups and downs, but that is what makes us perfectly imperfect. I can’t wait to become the Murrill’s next year!
My Family
I am beyond thankful for my family and their support. For my mom who always believes in me, will answer my 12th phone call to her for the day, and gives me the most amount of unconditional love, both my parents for their support, my grandma who shares and comments every darn thing I post on Facebook, and my new soon to be in-laws for allowing me into your family and for raising an amazing young man that I get to marry next year. You’re all rock stars and I would never be able to do this life without your love and encouragement.
Basically B
I have always had a dream of starting my own blog. I wanted to start one in college, but I let fear get in the way. What would people think? Am I good enough? So many doubts. But I thank my family and Mitch for pushing me to pursue my dream. I can’t believe I have almost been doing this whole blogging thing for a year, and it is slowly turning into a career for me. I truly get to wake up and doing something that makes my inside scream with joy every day!
Support
For every good or bad thing that happens, there is always someone to congratulate me or get me back on my feet. I am extremely thankful for the support system that I have in my life. Although I do keep a lot to myself, I know that if I need to vent about life, to ramble on about the awkward occurrence in the grocery store, or just to laugh, I have many people I can call.
With moving around so much with this horse racing lifestyle, I am thankful for the friends from all the “homes” I have. I could not survive this crazy life without you. Even though we can go weeks without talking, your love and support I feel every day! My friends may be a bit more annoyed with me now as I take pictures of our brunch food and delay them eating by a minute or two, but they are great at helping to promote my blog and more importantly, being good friends.
I am also extremely grateful for every single one of YOU! Every time you like a photo on Instagram, read a blog post, or shop through my LIKEtoKNOW.it you are helping to support my business. I treasure every heartfelt comment you leave and every DM you send. I appreciate every single one of you. One of my goals for next year is to try to e-meet more of you, so if you have never reached out, please leave a comment on an IG pic or shoot me a DM because Basically B would be nothing besides a girl sitting behind her laptop and taking crazy pictures in public without you and your support! I look forward to connecting with even more of you!
Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your turkey and pumpkin pie!
I have so much to be thankful for this year! What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
