Summer means one thing: wedding season! Wondering what to wear to a wedding this season? While I am in the mix of shopping for my own wedding dress, I love wedding guest dresses just as much. I’m here to help narrow down what to wear to a wedding this year. Your Instagram is about to get flooded with wedding hashtags, so let’s make sure you are looking like one of the most well dressed guests.

Rustic Weddings
Barn weddings seem to always be a popular venue. If you find one of the weddings on your calendar happens to be for a rustic wedding, figuring out what to wear is just slightly more complicated than usual. A rural ceremony calls for something that’s breezy and can handle the outdoors but is still formal enough to be appropriate for the vows. From pretty prints such as floral or gingham to ruffles, these dresses will be perfect for any spring outdoor wedding—rustic or not. Kick off your heels and head to the dance floor all night long, and get your Instagram picture ready with the wedding hashtag because these dresses are meant to be seen.
Black Tie
Traditionally, Black Tie events take place in the evening and will be noted on the invitation. Think formal, upscale, and long and luxe! While some modern Black Tie requests allow for a shorter dress with a detail like sequins or beading, it’s best to keep it safe and to stick to a longer length. Think glam!
Festive Chic
Festive Chic implies color and patterns. Embrace the “festive” and go with bold, bright colors or floral and graphic patterns. Festive calls for your best accessories. So pull out those fun earrings or earrings or killer heels (or both!).
Beachy
One word – sand. Dress your best, but dress for sand! Considering the location, a statement flat sandals would be most appropriate. This also ensures that you will be able to dance the night away. I think dressier sundress in lighter fabrics, a maxi dress, or a hi-low hemline. Remember, beach nights tend to get chilly with the sea breeze, so bring a shawl to keep warm.
Conservative Church Wedding
If the location of the ceremony is a church, it is best to keep your outfit conservative and polished. No low cut necklines, bring a shawl to cover your shoulders if bare, avoid skin tight fabrics, but still have fun with your outfit. I think a midi length dress would be perfect for this type of wedding.
Weddings are a great time. Celebrating the start of two people’s lives together, dancing, and just the party! Make sure you are following dress code, but still looking trendy and stylish this summer at all of your different types of weddings.
