I love bargain hunting. I learned from the best two women: my mom and grandma. I started at a young age, and now to this day I still find myself beelining straight to the clearance section in a store. There’s something about finding a great item at a low price or saving a chunk of change.
Today, I am sharing some of my go-to spots for finding deals and places to bargain hunt. You have to act fast, because the good ones go quickly!!
TJ Maxx/Marshalls
These two go hand in hand in my book. I am a proud Maxinista. You never know what hidden gems you may find each trip, which is why I love it so much. I can get a top for $5 and then buy Steve Madden sneakers for $30! There is a wide variety of brands offered, ranging from budget to high-end, and I usually shop the in-between. But I have found myself finding great deals on designer items (especially shoes) at both places. Yes the designer brands are more expensive than others, but when you are getting them for up to 60% off, it makes it worth it for me.There are also a lot of home décor items, but I will get into more home décor in the next one.
Home Goods
My go to spot for home décor on a budget is Home Goods. As a sister store to TJ Maxx, I never leave Home Goods empty handed. I always stock up on candles, seasonal items, and fun items to add to my décor. I have found quite a bit of discounted Kate Spade home décor (it is a dream to have a Kate Spade home), so I am always grabbing those goodies. I also love their little kitchen gadgets. I tend to stick to more casual home décor shopping at Home Goods or little accents that show my personality.
Nordstrom Rack
Items from the last season at Nordstrom get sent to Nordstrom Rack. It’s where I get a lot of my staples as well as some fun designer options. I find a lot of good deals at Rack, and a lot of it is by looking daily. Things that are good items for cheap go FAST. I see big name brands marked down solely because it’s turning into a different season, so you have to act quickly, but you can save a lot on something that will be back up to full price the next year. Besides shopping online, it is always fun to go in person to see what goodies are hiding in the racks. I find really great shoes at Rack too. Lots of Sam Edelman, Steve Madden, Hunter, and more.
Factory Stores (Jcrew, Kate Spade, Express, etc..)
I think that growing up 3 minutes away from an outlet mall was a blessing and a curse. It helped me get really good at bargain shopping and I think I was super lucky to have it at my fingertips growing up. Now whenever I see an outlet mall I feel the need to shop. I love when brands have “factory” stores. A factory store is when a brand specifically makes things for the outlet. One of my favorite is Jcrew Factory. It’s literally a cheaper Jcrew. It’s great! People are sometimes turned off by factory stores because they think it is just a cheaper version of the brand. However, I have never once seen a quality issue or anything.
Off 5th
Similar to Rack, Off 5th carries leftover items from Saks 5th Avenue. These items are usually still expensive, but Off 5th is a way to get discounts on popular designers that make their prices more affordable. I have seen major labels for insane discounts, all because it’s “last season”!!! If you are in the market for a designer bag, pair of shoes, etc. this is a great place to look to find it new. I have found a number of special occasion dresses here!
I hope this helps you on your quest to find the best bargains!! What’s your favorite place to bargain shop??
