My Bridal Tea Party

09.07.20Wedding4

A couple weeks ago I headed north for my first not cancelled wedding festivity: my bridal tea party! I was so excited for my first shower that my mom and her friends threw me. I also could not contain my excitement to see so many friends and family that I have not seen in a very long time!

I want to start off by saying that my mom did an unbelievable job on this shower. She took every expectation I had and blew it out of the water. From the decor, the games, the everything it could not have been more “Brittany”.

Location

We had my bridal tea party at Oscar Swan Country Inn in Geneva, IL. It was right around where I grew up. We could not have found a better venue.

The theme was whiskey in a teacup, after Reese Witherspoon, so we wanted something that would be quirky and fun! Oscar Swan delivered!

We started our tea party in the morning room, where we had cotton candy mimosas, rosé, lemonade, and tea. We then moved into the parlor for our tea party. It looked like a pink doll house. Everything was pink, even down to the flowers. We had mix-matched antique teacups and dishes. It was so dainty and cute!

We started off with hot tea, strawberry soup, and scones with clotted cream and jelly. The strawberry soup was SO YUMMY! It tasted like a smoothie. I found a similar recipe here!

Up next was the little finger sandwiches: typical tea party food! We had quite an assortment. From avocado cream cheese, to salmon, to roast beef, and chicken salad. My favorite was the avocado cream cheese!

After games, we moved outside to the garden to open presents under the big oak trees! The whole day was just so lovely!

Games

We most definitely did not play the typical bridal shower games, I think ours were more fun!

Who Has The Groom?

For starters at everyone place setting there was a lottery ticket type card. It said “Who has the groom?“. It was a man in a suit and his head was a scratch off. Everyone had to scratch off the face of the man, and whoever had Mitch won! I had Zac Efron, who I think is a fine second place choice to Mitch ;).

Disney Love Songs

It is no surprise that I love Disney! I thought this was the cutest game, that made the shower personal to me! All you had to do was match the Disney love song to the corresponding movie! It was fun and cute! My bridesmaid Taylor dominated this game and was crowned the winner!

How Well Do You Know The Bride?

This was a fun one to see who really knew me. My mom had some different questions up on the one she used. But everyone got to put their answers in, and whoever guessed the most correctly won! Another bridesmaid swept this game and won! She had 8/10 correct!

Drop Your Panties

This was the funniest thing, and I did not even see it coming! In each bridal shower invite, my mom included a note that said to bring a fun pair of undies to the party for the bride, but unique enough that she might “know” that YOU are the one who brought them for her.

When everyone arrived they hung their panties, and then I got to guess who brought which pair. It was a super funny way to get everyone laughing! Boy did I get some interesting panties!

Recipe For A Good Marriage

This idea was super cute! At the shower, my mom passed around a wooden spoon to everyone, and they wrote a piece of martial advice on it. I got to take them home and see what all my loved ones had to say!

The whole day was just so lovely! We had the most perfect weather for it being the end of August. Everyone dressed to the nines, and I still have not stopped smiling!

Thank you to everyone to attended my bridal tea party, and hopefully I will see you all in November for the big day!
