I Bought A Condo!!

04.11.22Home, Lifestyle5

New kid on the block! I can still barely believe that I am a homeowner. Pop the champagne!

As you all saw on Friday I closed on my first condo EVER! I move in this weekend, and it still hasn’t hit me yet. I am so proud of myself and excited to start this new chapter of my life.

If you have been around for awhile, you know that about 2 years ago I moved back home from ending an abusive relationship. It was one of the lowest moments of my life, but it also made me stronger than I ever thought I could be.

These past 2 years I have started completely over from the ground up and to be at the young age of 27 and to be a homeowner just proves that you can do anything you put your mind too. It is about time that things start to work out for me! I have been manifesting for the life I am truly living today.

My new home

Since working in downtown Chicago, location was my biggest thing when looking for a place. I knew I did not want to be in the city (suburb girl forever), but I need to be close to a metra station so I can head downtown a couple days a week.

My realtor was tasked with the mission of finding me a place that hit most of my checkmarks, but especially the location aspect. Boy did he work fast, this property was only the 3rd one I saw. Y’all I can see the metra stop from my balcony! Talk about a short commute. It was the most perfect location, in my budget, and with the way the market is I knew I needed to move fast.

A little timeline for how this all went down, because trust me it was FAST! The property went on the market on a Thursday. I was the 3rd person to see it, I ended up making an offer on Thursday (along with 15 other people that day), and then by Sunday they accepted my offer. We officially closed in 4 weeks! Talk about moving fast. But sometimes you just have to trust your gut and go!

Let me tell you, buying a home is no joke! I knew it was going to be stressful, but it was almost like a part time job. You are in constant communication with your lawyer, real estate agent, loan officer, etc. But I am so thankful that I had my mom who was able to help explain things along the way!

The details

Going into this whole process I knew I wanted it to be 100% me and Brittany since I will be living alone and it is all mine. This is probably the only time in my life that I will be single and living alone before I meet my partner. So all of the decisions are very on brand for Brittany. I am not saying it is a Barbie Dream House because this is only a temporary home for me for a few years, but it definitely screams Britt!

It is a 2 bed/2 bath condo and it is on the small side, but it is honestly everything I need at this stage in my life. But let me tell you the best part as been decorating and making all of those fun decisions!

Since I only plan on staying here a few years, I am no zero renovations. It already has new stainless steel appliances, and new carpet, but with a fresh paint job she is good to go!

My aesthetic for my new place is modern glam and girly vibes with lots of pink. I did purchase a pink sectional because why not! I have a lot of fun prints, colors, with an overall clean look to it. I am super excited to move in and actually put my vision to life.

This whole experience has taught me so much about myself, and just how adulting is. Again after all I have been through these last couple years, I am so so proud of myself for making this move, purchasing property, and really being independent for the first time in my life. I have never lived alone, so stay tuned for that!

I can’t wait to host all of the fun happy hours, bachelor nights, dinner parties, and really get back to entertaining (in small doses). I love being the hostess with the mostess and eager to see how this new chapter of my life goes!
