How To Celebrate International Women’s Day

03.08.23Lifestyle2

In honor of International Women’s Day (and month!), I’m finding ways to celebrate and inspire the leading ladies in our life. International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

While we should be celebrating women every day, here are some ways to celebrate today, throughout women’s history month, and frankly all year round!

Try a female owned restaurant

The restaurant world can admittedly be a bit of a boys club, with its tough guy, dog-eat-dog ethos and historically cutthroat kitchen environments. But the ladies in Chicago, say heck no! Try one of these women-owned restaurants here in the city!

  • Monteverde – West Loop
  • Cabra – West Loop
  • Mi Tocaya Antojería – Logan Square
  • Demera Ethiopian Restaurant – Uptown
  • Mindy’s Bakery – Wicker Park
  • Saigon Sisters – West Loop
  • Girl and the Goat – West Loop
  • Vermilion – River North
  • Brown Bag Seafood Co. – Roscoe Village, Loop
  • Chocolat Uzma Sharif – Pilsen
  • Duck Duck Goat – Fulton Market
  • ERIS Brewery & Cider House – Irving Park

Check out a female owned brewery

Beer girls are truly the best girls! I think it is so cool when a girl drinks beer, aka me! But check out these female ran breweries. I know I will be stopping at all of these this month for sure!

  • Metropolitan Brewing – Avondale
  • Hopewell Brewing Co. – Logan Square
  • Eris Brewery & Cider House – Irving Park
  • Church Street Brewing – Itasca
  • Skeleton Key Brewery – Woodridge, IL
  • Haymarket Pub & Brewery – West Loop

Make an empowering all female playlist

You know those songs that just get you in a good mood and want to dance? I love a good female pump up song, and there are SO MANY! Grab your gfs and all make a combined Spotify playlist will all your favorite female artists to listen to all month!

Host a book club and encourage everyone to bring a book that impacted them this last year written by a female

I think this is such a fun idea. I love reading as y’all know, and this is a great idea to start a discussion about some bigger issues in life, or what empowers/inspires your friends.

  • Lydia Fenet

Listen to a female ran podcast
