Turn on Spotify’s ‘Christmas Classic’ playlist and get cozy. It is time to start holiday shopping!
I take pride in my holiday gift shopping and truly take time to think about each person on my gift. I am not about generic gifts for someone. The best part of the season is seeing that person’s face when you give a special gift. Special doesn’t have to mean expensive however!
However, this year more than ever we should be supporting local. I love shopping local whenever I can! Something about knowing you are helping an actual person makes my heart happy. There are so many small businesses out there now. I rounded up a few of my own that I have been supporting for awhile now.
Majority of these small businesses are women owned and located in the Chicago/Chicagoland area. Happy shopping!
- NJ Jewels: Lori is such a gem. I met her a few months ago and fell in love with her and her jewelry. She has the cutest stuff. She is the one who has inspired me on all of my necklace layering. Her motto is the more the better. I love her pieces individually, but together is where the magic starts. I love her beaded chokers, and her paperclip chain necklace is a staple!
2. Simple Nature Candles: I love this concept, and I think they make the great gifts. These are candles that take you places. Each candle is centered around a different destination with scents from it. From Costa Rica with scents of Pineapple and Sage to transport you back to the beachy rainforests. To Paris with scents of Baked Pear and Brandy to transport you back to the City of Lights. You can even get a destination closer to home like Chicago, Kentucky, or Texas.
3. BitchStick: A business that I have shared about in the past. It is near and dear to my heart because part of your purchase goes to nonprofit organizations that support survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Not only is it for a great cause, their products are fun and great! They are known for their lip balms (pink lemon is my favorite!), but these are perfect stocking stuffers, and the branding is just adorable!
4. Bonita Tu: Two sisters located in Chicago with a Mexican background that make the most STUNNING hats! Y’all know I love my hats, and when I saw the detail, the quality, the everything, I knew I needed to get my hands on one. I went with the pink (shocking), and I am amazed by it!
5. Hines Brines: This one is for all the foodies. A Chicago owned small business specializing in spices, oils and vinegars. Let me just say his cha-cha-chai spice has taken my at home chai teas to the next level! I also have his Heavenly Hot Chocolate Mix, Boystown Spice Blend, and I can’t wait to get more. These are the perfect gifts for the cook in your life. He also has collections which make the easiest gift because he puts them together himself!
6. Emily Paige CO: I actually discovered Emily Paige CO on TikTok and instantly fell in love with her brand. I ordered this pumpkin glass immediately and I knew these would make great Christmas presents! This “Think Happy Thoughts” one particularly. Not only does she have glasses, but she has other home decor, apparel, and more! But order soon because her shipping is taking about 14-20 business day!
7. Slate & Clove Collective: Yet another another Chicagoland women owned duo. Sam and Jessica own a handmade goods and print shop, and the detail on their work is just amazing! Their prints are a neutrals lovers dream, and their candles smell divine!
8. Hazelry: If someone on your list is a neutral lover, and has a minimalist style, you need to check out Emma and Hazelry. She has her stuff in Wyckwood House as well. From jewelry (I am OBSESSED with her earrings), to adorable clothes, I love it all!
9. Crystal Ship Jewelry : Another local Aurora boss lady. Her handmade jewelry, crystals and gifts would make the perfect addition to any Christmas present. Her earthy, dark jewel tones are just stunning. You can really tell the artistic craftsmanship she puts into her work! These Silver Agate bracelets will be the perfect stocking stuffers. Personally the Opalite Golden Skinny bracelets will be ordered by me ASAP!
10. Wyckwood House: Y’all know I talk about Wyckwood House all the time. Shannon is an amazing woman who has created such a beautiful brand that supports local women. She have two brick and mortar shops in Aurora and Wheaton. They are absolutely adorable! Wyckwood House is the perfect place to do some holiday shopping. From clothes to accessories to home decor she has it all. Also you can use BRITT15 for 15% off your purchase online and in store! This satin romper may be a Christmas present to myself!
