AKA my Oreo balls. I bet you can’t eat just one of these bad boys.
With Super Bowl coming up this weekend, still a little hurt from the Saints’ game last weekend. New Orleans goes crazy for the Saints so it is fun being a part of everything. Also Drew Brees is a fellow Boilermaker so of course I was going to root for them to go to the Super Bowl. Since neither of the teams I root for (still forever going to root on the Chicago Bears) are going to the Super Bowl, my main focus of the night will be the commercials, the half time show, and food.
Super Bowl parties are so fun, mostly because of the food. I love all of the shared dishes everyone brings and how everyone gets so excited over a game of football. One dish that I am always bringing on repeat, or per request are my Oreo balls. Now don’t laugh, but a ball has never tasted so good. I thought with Super Bowl less than a week away I will share my extremely easy recipe so you too can introduce your friends and family to these amazing balls.
What you will need:
Makes approximately 24 balls
1 (14-oz.) package of Oreos
1 (8-oz.) package of cream cheese, softened
Pinch of kosher salt
1 (12-oz.) package chocolate chips, melted
Tada! That’s all you need to make Oreo balls. Now the instructions are super simple too. First you are going to crush up the Oreos using a food processor if you’re fancy, or if you’re like me a Ziploc bag and a rolling pin. Second, you mix in the cream cheese with the Oreos crumbs in a mixing bowl and add a pinch of salt. Once they are all combined use an ice cream scoop to make little balls and lay on a cookie sheet. Pop them in the fridge for 10 minutes.
After you take them out of the fridge, you are going to dunk each of the balls into melted chocolate (pause for applause). Then put back onto the cookie sheet. Then to make them look all fancy sprinkle a little of the Oreo crumbs on top of each one. Once they are looking all mighty and fine, put them in the fridge for another 10 minutes or until you are ready to serve them.
And that is it friends. The easiest most delicious Oreo balls to bring to your Super Bowl party. However, I can’t promise that you won’t eat the entire batch before they even make it to the party. Who are you rooting for to win the Super Bowl this year? Also let me know if you try my Oreo balls, and how they turned out!
