Forget The Milk, You Should Be Drinking Wine With Your Girl Scout Cookies

03.04.21Brews & Bites4

It’s that time of the year where you can’t walk into a grocery store or Target without running into cute little girls pedaling those addictive boxes of Girl Scout Cookies. Or just use Grubhub and get your cookies delivered to your door!

Forget milk and cookies. When you shell out $5 for a box of tasty Girl Scout cookies, you’ve earned the right to enjoy a handful (or the entire box). Better yet, why not pair off your evening snack with a nice glass of wine? Ah, but which wine goes best with which cookie? Before you open every bottle in your wine fridge, I already did the heavy drinking—er, lifting—for you.

Here are the best Girl Scout cookie and wine pairings all under $20!

Tagalongs

My personal favorite Girl Scout cookie are the Girl Scouts’ version of the Reese Peanut Butter Cup. Tagalongs are comprised of a chocolaty cookie with a layer of gooey peanut butter for the ultimate PB-chocolate combo. Pair them with a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Francis Coppola Diamond Claret Cabernet Sauvignon ($17)

Thin Mints

Thin Mints may be the most well-known GSC there is. These thin, minty gems are equally crispy and sweet, making them a truly delicious goodie. Red wine and chocolate go together like macaroni and cheese. Pair them with bold, deep reds, like a Brunello, Merlot or Pinot Noir.

Josh Cellars Merlot ($15)

Samoas

These coconut-dusted, super-toasted cookies are packed with caramel and drizzled with chocolate, making them the perfect match for a good red blend.

19 Crimes ($10)

Trefoils

The OG Girl Scout Cookie. There’s something super sweet and innocent about shortbread. You’ll want something crisp, light and refreshing to a pair with these. A sparkling wine, like Prosecco would be the perfect choice!

La Marca Prosecco ($15)

Do-si-dos

With oatmeal on the outside and creamy butter inside, these are *almost* considered healthy. I’ll take it. Pair your Do-si-dos with a Sauvignon Blanc or a Zinfandel.

Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc ($9)

The Federalist Zinfandel ($16)

Savannah Smiles/Lemonades

Packed with zesty lemon flavor and topped with sweet powdered sugar, Savannah Smiles would be perfect with a good rosé. The lemony zest from Lemonades would also pair great with rosé!

La Vielle Ferme Rosé ($8)

Thanks-A-Lots

These shortbread cookies come with a delicious layer of rich fudge on the bottom, so they’re generally the go-to favorite of chocolate lovers everywhere. They’d go well with a Pinot Noir.

Meiomi Pinot Nior ($20)

Tell me what your favorite Girl Scout Cookie is!
