O look another glorious morning! But today actually is a glorious morning because IT IS THE FIRST DAY OF FALL! Mother Nature was even kind enough to welcome the new season with fall like temps.
I like to say I was a basic fall girl before being a basic fall girl was even a thing. I remember being little and begging to go to the pumpkin patch, bake fall goodies, and just be in awe of the leaves. I have always had an odd obsession with pumpkins, but now I just embrace it!
Each season I like to put together a bucket list of all things I want to accomplish. It helps me lay out how I want the new season to look and gives me time to reflect to make sure I really do everything I want and to make the most of it.
Fall is great because it is just cozy. Fall fashion is cozy. Fall recipes are cozy. Fall activities are cozy. So the overall theme of this season to be is cozy. But let’s get into my bucket list!
Fall 2022 Bucket List
Give my home a cozy makeover
I am SO excited that this is my first year in my condo which means all the holiday decorating. I have been to multiple Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls to scour for the most perfect fall decor. Knowing me, I have found every single pink fall decor item in the state of Illinois, and I couldn’t be happier. I did tones of pinks, oranges, and neutrals to add some fall flair to my living space! I bought way too many fall candles, cozy throws, and even added autumnal flavor essential oils to my diffuser. Changing my house for the seasons is a little something that brings me joy. Just wait until Christmas!
Have a spooky movie marathon
I am over the moon excited for the new Hocus Pocus 2 to come out next week (September 30th)! I am having a few girlfriends over for a little watch party (more to come on that, stay tuned!). Hocus Pocus has always been my favorite fall movie, and no fall is complete without watching it at least a dozen times. We can also sprinkle in Halloweentown, Casper, and a few other goodies. But I am not a scary movie gal. Especially living alone, I am not about to put myself through that! But pop some popcorn – try sprinkling some cinnamon sugar or pumpkin pie spice to make it extra fall-y, and light a fall candle (just make sure it isn’t the black flame candle) and cozy up with a warm blanket. Sounds like the ideal fall night to me.
Read all the spooky books
I may not be a horror film fan, but there is nothing like a thriller page turner to get you in the spooky mood. Now I do only read them in the daylight (because nightmares – see above), but I enjoy a good creepy read during the fall months. I have quite the list of books I want to read this fall – most of them spooky or thrillers. Catch me sitting on my patio under a blanket and a cup of hot tea enjoying a crisp fall morning curled up with my book.
Try a new fall cocktail
From pumpkin beer, ciders, espresso martinis, Oktoberfest beers, there are so many good fall cocktail options out there! Now I am a pumpkin spice girl through and through – my fall order is a pumpkin chai with pumpkin cream cold foam, but something about a fall cocktail that makes my heart happy. I want to experiment more and see if I can come up with the perfect fall cocktail. Something that embodies all of the flavors of fall. But until then, you can find me sipping on pumpkin beers and ciders for the next few months!
Eat seasonally
Not only do I want to drink seasonally, but I want to eat seasonally as well. I know that there is more fall produce than pumpkins. As much as I love to bake a fall goodie, I want to try incorporating the flavors of fall in my other meals. From apples, sweet potatoes, figs, green beans, and more. Plus, I can’t forget the classic flavors that taste like fall: cinnamon, sage, nutmeg, and so on. I am excited to share some new fall recipes I plan on trying soon! Also don’t get me started on soup season.
Do ALL the fall activities
Apple picking, corn maze, pumpkin patch, fall hikes, picnics, wineries, breweries – I want to do all of the fall activities. Whether that is with my friends, mom, by myself, or a date (because I’m back on the dating apps) I am determined to have fun this season. I feel like I always have these grand ideas of things I want to do, but this season I am not letting anything get in my way. I am in a life stage of growing and selfishness, so I am making it a priority to do what I want to do. Plus fall has arguably some of the best activities to do!
Elevate my fall wardrobe
Now, I know we all love fall fashion. Cozy sweaters galore. But I have been trying to be more intentional with my shopping lately. Investing in more classic pieces that will last me years, and only allocating a small part of my fashion budget to trendier pieces. From leather shorts, booties, flannels, jackets, and a good pair of jeans – these are my fall staples. A girl can simply never have too many pairs of boots.
Spend time outdoors
Whether that is going for my daily walk, heading to a football game, or taking an outdoor yoga class I want to be sure I am spending as much time outdoors before I turn into a hermit in the winter. I am a sucker for when the leaves change, and I know it always comes and goes before you know it. I want to make it a priority to spend times outdoors on the weekends.
