At Home Chai Tea Latte

04.13.20Brews & Bites2

I am a sucker for a good chai tea latte. It is my go to order at any coffee shop. Being in quarantine, and having all of the coffee shops closed has given me a chance to perfect my at home chai tea latte. Honestly, I don’t know if I will ever go back to buying a chai tea latte on the daily. Of course, I will splurge on them every once in a while, but I will save so much money by making them at home.

I have been making this recipe pretty much every morning, or as an afternoon pick me up!

This recipe is so simple, and gives you options to make it your own and play around with different flavors!

So no more need to be sad about missing your daily chai teas because this recipe is just as yummy as going to your local coffee shop!

Step one: chai tea mix

I normally use Tazo chai skinny latte. But I know Oregon Chai is another great brand. I know my grocery store sells out of Tazo SUPER FAST, so when I see it I try to grab a few to have in stock, or I get it on Amazon. I like the skinny one because there is less sugar. But I have tasted both brands and like both!

I know Starbucks uses the original Tazo, so if you want yours to taste like you got it from there, I would recommend purchasing the original Tazo brand!

Step two: Milk

I have jumped on the oat milk train and I love using it as the milk component in this chai tea! However, you can use whatever milk you prefer! I have used skim and almond milk in the past as well.

I like to do 1:1 ratio chai tea and milk. I fill a glass with ice and fill it half with the chai tea mix and then the rest of the glass up with my oat milk.

Step three: Stir Stir Stir Stir Stir Stir

Step Four: Add cinnamon

I love adding a dash of cinnamon on top to really pull out the chai flavors. However I have also been dabbling with adding a few drops of vanilla or nutmeg to mix things up.

You can add so many flavors to your chai, and this is the part to have some fun with it.. You can add some honey, or some fresh ginger. In the fall I know I will be adding pumpkin pie spice to my chai tea lattes. Really whatever you want throw it in there and make it your own!

If you want to make this latte hot, just steam your milk and follow the same steps!

I promise this chai tea latte will taste just like the ones from a coffee shop! Enjoy!

What food/drinks have you been missing most during quarantine???
