Last weekend I celebrated my birthday early in Palm Beach, Florida. From the pastel buildings, to blooming flowers, to thousands of palm trees, Palm Beach has been on my list for a few years now. This Florida town is full of charm and tranquility. We were looking for a quick weekend trip that we could spend at the beach.
Now, I have to say that Palm Beach is definitely a ritzy-titzy destination, and a weekend was the perfect amount of time there. There is A LOT of wealth in Palm Beach and at many times I felt out of place. From all the designer bags, to perfectly manicured dogs, Palm Beach was definitely a splurge. Y’all normally know that luxury travel is not something I do often, but since it was my birthday we went all out in the pink paradise for my glam birthday weekend.
Where We Stayed
If there’s one hotel in Palm Beach that caught my eye it was The Colony. This is truly a pink paradise AKA Britt’s heaven on earth. Now I really want to preface we would normally NEVER stay at this fancy of a hotel ever, especially one with this price tag. But we decided that since this was my birthday celebration we might as well go all out.
From the first steps I took into the lobby, I was in awe. It was literally like I was looking though rose colored lenses. Everything in sight was pink. The wallpaper, chairs, the polos of the bellhops/poolboys (Timo was my fav!), beds, pool umbrellas, everything was pink. I was like a girl in a candy shop. It truly was a pink paradise. One of the most impressive parts to me was the attention to details. You could tell that every little thing was planned out, and it really showed.
The Colony is perfectly located in Palm Beach. It is a block away from Worth Ave, a couple blocks from the beach, and close proximity to great restaurants and bars. One of my favorite parts of The Colony was the pink golf cart that would take you wherever your little heart desired. It came paired with palm print seats and of course a cute driver!
What We Did
Shopping on Worth Avenue
Take Rodeo Drive and place it in Florida, and you have Worth Ave. Worth Avenue is beautifully lined with endless palm trees and some of the world’s most high-end stores (Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s, Gucci…to name a few). Even though a shopping spree may be out of the question for most, I did not purchase one thing, it is still worth an afternoon stroll. While window shopping, discover the avenue’s charming “vias,” or quaint courtyards filled with flower-lined walls, pretty fountains, little boutiques and restaurants.
I can’t mention Palm Beach without mentioning Lily Pulitzer also. Lilly Pulitzer started her brand in Palm Beach 60 years ago, and to this day, the island is still is covered in Lilly Pulitzer! The Worth Avenue location is one not to miss! There’s a custom shift bar where Lilly Pulitzer fans can customize their own iconic Lilly Pulitzer shift in one of four Worth Avenue-exclusive Lilly Pulitzer prints. The store is complete with a paint station for Lilly Pulitzer print designers, and a full cocktail bar for store special events.
Be sure to snap a picture at the instagram-worthy Bougainvillea wall and turquoise door! Right across the street from Renato, an elegant and upscale restaurant is a beautiful flower wall filled with Bougainvillea vines and flowers.
Beach Day
The main reason why we were in Palm Beach was to go to the beach! We were very lucky because our hotel put together the most epic beach set up with beach butler included, and we loved it so much we did it two days in a row! What can I say we are big beach gals! The beaches are beautiful in Palm Beach and the water was pretty warm.
The beach setup was complete with pink and white striped chairs and matching umbrella. A beach blanket and best of all a hot pink yeti filled with cold drinks and snacks. We would’ve stayed there all day and night if it wasn’t for the fact we were turning into a pair of lobsters!
Sloan’s Ice Cream
This is technically a food, but this little ice cream shop is the cutest! Of course I went with the peanut butter cup because that anything chocolate and peanut butter is my go to. It is across the bridge in West Palm Beach, but a must try for any ice cream lovers!
Other things to do in Palm Beach:
Explore Island by bike – a lot of hotels offer complimentary bikes to use!
Enjoy a pool day
Where We Ate/Drank
Brunch at Swifty’s at The Colony
If you do not plan to stay at The Colony, then I highly recommend doing brunch at the hotel restaurant Swifty’s. It is boozy and delicious. It is also a great way to sneak in a few pics of this gorgeous property! The caramelized banana French toast was the best way to start my morning with a mimosa! They also serve lunch and dinner, if brunch doesn’t fit in your itinerary.
Pizza Al Fresco
Need a break from window shopping on Worth Ave? Located on Via Mizner just beyond its flower-walled alley, you’ll be greeted by the smell of wood fire pizza and bright blue umbrellas in the restaurant’s stunning courtyard. The perfect ambiance to people-watch as you eat your margherita napolitana pie. We had the Colorful Bianca and with a glass of rosé it was the perfect lunch!
Coyo Taco
Dining in Palm Beach is expensive. Everything is expensive in Palm Beach. After some window shopping at the Royal Poinciana Plaza (another great window shopping experience – Stoney Clover and LoveShack Fancy are both there!) guacamole and tacos sounded lovely. This is definitely a more casual spot, but was yummy!
Almond
A great dinner spot is the Almond. It is a little more casual than the fine dining scene Palm Beach offers, but some amazing food and drinks. We had a lovely dinner outside on their patio under the palms! Make sure you get the lobster lettuce wraps as an appetizer (YUM!)
The fine dining scene in Palm Beach is where it is at. There were so many other restaurants we would have loved to try including:
If you’re looking to get off of the island, we stumbled upon Rhythm Cafe and had an amazing dinner of fresh fish!
Overall Palm Beach was the perfect glam weekend getaway! Great for a girl’s weekend, mother-daughter trip, bachelorette party, or romantic getaway. I loved the modern yet retro vibes the city gives off. It is a true Floridian gem and a pink paradise in my book!
