No matter the time of year or cause for the occasion, there’s something to be said about a good old-fashioned gathering. From weekend dinner parties to impromptu cocktail hours and upcoming holiday festivities, any opportunity to get together with loved ones is reason enough to clear our calendars.
I personally love hosting. I love the planning, adding little details, and actually being able to host people. That was one of the many reasons why I wanted to have my own place. I am starting to host little gatherings monthly!
But If you’re less so the type to throw a party and find yourself being the attendee, you know you can’t make your stylish appearance without one of the best hostess gift ideas in hand. Mom always told me to never show up empty handed.
However, gone are the days where we just show up with a bottle of wine (at least add a cute wine tag or bag). Especially during the holiday season, there’s no better way to express your gratitude than with a thoughtful gift. They are supplying the drinks, after all. It’s just a matter of courtesy.
Hostess gifts don’t have to be expensive (my rule of thumb is to spend as much as I would on a bottle of wine or something and just make it more personal to whoever is hosting). I am all about a thoughtful gift!
Here is my hostess gift guide so you can head into all your festive gatherings prepared.
1. White Pumpkin Pie Dish
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and personally I think that Thanksgiving is the hardest holiday to host with all that comes with Thanksgiving. Not only should you show up with a dish to share, but this pumpkin pie dish would be adorable. Did I mention that it is on sale for under $10!!?!
2. Pumpkin Salt & Pepper Shakers
Another cute Thanksgiving or friendsgiving gift idea. These little salt and pepper shakers would be cute for any table from September-Thanksgiving. One can never have too many salt and pepper shakers!
3. I’m Dreaming Of A Pink Christmas Candle
I did not only buy this candle for myself, but this would be a great hostess gift. Candles may seem a little basic, but one with a cute phrase on it adds a little extra something special. Your host will feel fabulous and festive with this holiday blend of gooey buttercream, angel cake, and a cheeky splash of bourbon. YUM!
4. Cocktail Shaker
Bar-ware is always a great hostess gift idea, especially this gold and glass ribbed cocktail shaker. It just looks fancy, but the price is right! There are so many festive cocktails to try this holiday season and this shaker is just super classy and chic and would make a great addition to any bar cart.
5. Cheese Knives
With the popularity of charcuterie boards lately, and matter of fact any board, cheese knives are always a fun hostess gift. I am loving these gold ones that are less than $15! An essential set of tools for any entertainer, it includes a small spade for cutting and spearing hard cheeses, a flat chisel knife for cubing and dividing soft cheeses and a two-pronged fork for serving aged and crumbly cheeses.
6. Olive Oil
Not only does this bottle look like a candy cane, if your hostess likes to cook, they would really appreciate a nice bottle of olive oil or vinegar. This one just helps that it looks extra festive. Good olive oil can make or break a dish!
7. Wine Chips Cheese Trio
I saw these and immediately knew they would make the perfect hostess gift! These handmade potato chips offer the sophistication of a cheese pairing yet require no refrigeration. Each flavor is crafted to pair with a specific wine, from light whites to full-bodied reds. I think this is such an unique concept!
8. Have Yourself A Very Merry Cocktail Book
I think a fun cookbook is a great hostess idea – especially a cocktail recipe book. This would go great paired with a bottle of wine! Again perfect for all of your holiday gatherings. This one has 80 winter cocktails to try!
9. So Much To Celebrate
I am a sucker for Reese Witherspoon and anything Draper James! If Reese approve then I automatically approve, and I think this coffee table book is just darling. Katie Jacobs, a stylist for Draper James shares her essential guide to entertaining. She reveals her secrets for throwing fantastic parties for any occasion, from a casual backyard movie night to a lavish holiday party.
10. Nutcracker Mug
I have a slight obsession with nutcrackers, and I couldn’t pass up this darling little mug. Again fill it with some fancy hot chocolate or tea and you got yourself a cute little hostess gift for under $15!
11. Bitchin Kitchen Spoon Rest
For any cook in your life! This would be the greatest Thanksgiving hostess gift since this holiday is all about the food. I think my grandma would love this one!
12. Monogrammed Serving Board
All hail Crate and Barrel. If I could live in a Crate and Barrel I would. Not only would this monogrammed serving board would be a good hostess gift, it would be a good gift for anyone or any occasion. I love the wooden and marble combo with the gold letter.
13. Holiday Cocktail Napkins
The perfect addition to any hostess gift. I am always picking up fun cocktail napkins whenever I see them. I think they are super cute and no one can ever have too many of them. World Market is my go to for holiday themed ones.
14. Holiday In The City Mug
Anthropologie has the best gifts for anyone hands down. Yes they are more expensive, but I think their mugs are a great gift. I am DYING over their holiday line this year and I trying not to go off the rails and buy it all. But a mug filled with little hot chocolate would make a cute little hostess gift!
15. Charcuterie Board Ornament
I think an ornament is always a good hostess gift. I am a big fan of personal ornaments on a tree and this is a way to get that special person something that is sentimental or makes them think of you. Do you have a friend who is the Queen of charcuterie boards? Then this ornament is for them!
16. Monogrammed Note Pad
Where are all my list gals?! I write everything down, especially when planning an event. These monogrammed note pads are such a smart gift for any hostess. They are personalized which makes it even better!
17. Boozy Brunch Set
