The long transition between winter to spring can be agonizing when the cold seems to drag on forever. Cold weather is fun until the holiday season is over. By February the snow turns to slush, you don’t remember the last time you saw the sun, and walking outside feels more brutal every day.
It’s so easy to get stuck in the rut of only winter clothes, with no spring in sight–what do you wear during those in-between days that aren’t warm enough for a dress, but not cold enough for a parka? Just because the weather may not feel like it, doesn’t mean spring isn’t here! But we are finally in March – and fingers crossed spring weather will be arriving soon!
And now we are finally on the cusp of spring, so let’s go through that winter closet and pull out the florals, brights, and a favorite dress! Here are 7 transitional outfit ideas to help you navigate this transitional season with style and ease.
1. Cropped Sweatshirt + Sneakers
The best part of spring approaching is the shedding of layers! Gone are the days of turtlenecks under sweaters under parkas with scarves and beanies. Running out of your house in a sweatshirt, or a light jacket is one of the best feelings of spring. I love a causal sweatshirt and sneaker moment. Throw on some sunnies and your look is complete! To give your sweatshirt a cropped look, simply tuck the end of it up in your bra – the easiest hack!
2. Skirt + Sweater + Fun Tights
I am a dress and skirt girl through and through. They are my favorite pieces to wear. So when warmer weather starts to come around I feel like myself again. But if it is still a little chilly for bare legs, or you are like me and need a little sun tan then tights are your best friend!
3. Sweater Vests + Leather Leggings
I never thought I would be a sweater vest gal. I despised them in elementary school and swore I would never wear one. But low and behold everything comes back and now I am a proud owner of 2 sweater vests. I like layering with a white button down for a chic look. Adding leather leggings (wear them now before it gets too hot for them!) is always a good idea.
4. Oversized Blazer in a fun color + Mules
Y’all will never see me getting sick of my hot pink blazer. It is just such a fun piece in my wardrobe. Dare I say I want more colors!? After a gray and dreary winter, spring is all about fun colors and prints. A statement blaze is the perfect way to do this.
5. Corduroy Jumper + Long Sleeve
This is the exact repeat outfit of what I would wear in 4th grade, but honestly I am here for it. I elevated it with my favorite white booties. I think it is just darling. Jumpers are so fun, and I am obsessed with this lilac color! You could also dress it down with sneakers!
6. Leather Moto Jacket + Knit Lounge Set
The best part of 2020 was lounge sets. We have officially made dressy comfy trendy. I am still a little hesitant, but I am actually loving this look with the added leather Moto jacket. This would also be the perfect airport outfit.
7. Oversized Sweater Dress + Booties
Back to my dresses! Especially if it is a day that still kind of feels like winter, a sweater dress is a great choice! Pair with sneakers for a more causal look, or mules/booties like I did if it is still a little chilly out!
What look is your favorite!?!
