Britt’s Spicy Margarita Recipe

05.03.21Brews & Bites7

There is nothing quite more refreshing than a margarita on a warm day. I drank my fair share of margs this weekend because this week is Cinco De Mayo! I will be celebrating with lots of tacos and of course margaritas.

A spicy margarita recipe that is the perfect sidekick to so many of your favorite Mexican-inspired dinners! This spicy margarita recipe has the perfect amount of spicy pepper flavor – just enough kick, but not-too-much!

During quarantine I mastered the at home margarita. After many trial and errors I have the perfect amount of each ingredient that makes the perfect marg! Here are a list of all the fun margaritas I made during quarantine.

Don’t get me wrong, the mixes are great, but they have so much sugar and definitely leave you with a nice hangover for the next day. This is why I wanted to come up with a recipe that allowed me to enjoy a margarita and not have to worry about all the extra calories. This one is so simple and tasty, you will never buy the store mix again!

This is my spicy marg recipe, but you could have so much fun with it. You can add in strawberries, or pineapple, or your own concoction. I have been on a spicy marg kick lately, and this one hits the spot every time!

Happy Cinco De Mayo and let me know if you make my spicy margarita!

Ingredients

Yields 2

  • 2 shots tequila
  • Lime
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (I eyeball a splash)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 Jalapeño
  • Ice
For Rim:
  • Kosher salt
  • Tajin
  • Lime

On a small plate combine salt and Tajin seasoning. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of glass. Dip glass into mix of salt and Tajin. Put to side. Fill your shaker with ice. Add in the tequila, orange juice, fresh juice from a lime, a squeeze of honey (add more if you like it sweeter), and 2-3 slices of jalapeño. Shake and drain into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with extra jalapeño.

Happy Cinco De Mayo amigos! Let me know if you try my spicy marg recipe!
