One of my favorite ways to wind down at night is with some good tv and maybe a glass of wine or 2. Mitch and I probably have 20 shows on rotation that we are constantly recording and watching. We are pretty religious when it comes to the shows we watch each week. We surprisingly like a lot of the same tv so it is easy when choosing what to watch. When we are not hosting our Monday night Bachelor watch parties, we have a long line of shows. So we typically never run out of things to watch at home.
Especially when the weather is still cold and gray, there is nothing better than snuggling up and binging some tv. Whether it be on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime or OnDemand this girl loves her tv shows! Does anyone else feel emotional connections with tv characters if you watch a show long enough? I have even dreamed about tv characters. Call me crazy!
However, when Mitch is away for business or I just want some guilty pleasure tv watching that I know he will not approve of – these have been my go to shows lately! I have already watched every episode of Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, and Grey’s Anatomy. Some of these are newer shows that I find interesting, or maybe ones you haven’t heard of yet!
Cheer
If you haven’t jumped on the Cheer bandwagon, you are doing it wrong. Even if you were not a cheerleader for 15+ years in your life like I was, you still need to watch this show. It shows cheerleading like never before. I related to pretty much everything that happened on the show. Many tears were shed needless to say. But my favorite part of the show was the characters. They were so lovable and I truly found myself wanting to become friends with them. I NEED a Jerry in my life giving me matt talk every day. I am also a big Morgan fan! By the end of the season I was ready to be put on mat and was doing everything I could to not disappoint Monica.
Katy Keene
This show actually just aired on the CW a couple weeks ago. First of all I am a big Lucy Hale fan (hello PLL!) so I was excited that she was the main actress in the show. This show takes place in NYC with a girl who has dreams of being a fashion designer like her mother who passed from an illness. She works in a big department store as a personal stylist. She has a drag queen roommate and an ex character from Riverdale “Rosie” joins the cast as she pursues her dream of being a singer. It is a feel good show that I really enjoy so far!
Dollface
My mom was the one who turned me onto Dollface actually. It is a hilarious comedy that follows a girl who was dumped by her longtime boyfriend and learns how to deal with her own imagination to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women and rekindle the female friendships she left behind. It is very women empowering and a great watch. I find myself cracking up multiple times an episode.
Project Runway
I’ve been a longtime lover of Project Runway. Even though I am sad they replaced Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, this newest season is really good. I think Christian Siriano is a great replacement to Tim Gunn as mentor. Mitch does watch this show with me when he has time. I have been more and more excited to watch each episode each week.
The Bold Type
Season 4 of The Bold Type is on TV now, but I have been a fan since the beginning. This Freeform show is about 3 best friends who work for one of the top women’s magazine in New York City. They learn to navigate their careers, relationships, and life in general. The characters in this show are relatable and the topics they cover are relevant and are sometimes things that TV shies away from covering. This show takes the risk to talk about some taboo topics that women go through. I highly recommend this show for all twenty-something babes.
Younger
Being a HUGE Lizzie McGuire girl, when I saw that Hilary Duff was one of the stars of this series I knew I had to watch it. This storyline is about a single-mom that tries to re-enter the working world at 40 by trying to pass herself off as 26, courtesy of a makeover. The newfound confidence helps get her a job at a top publishing company. Teaming with 20-something co-worker, she hopes to make it a dream career — while hoping no one discovers her secret. She later has to deal with the fallout of the truth after her secret comes out. This lighthearted show is a great watch. The episodes are only 30 minutes each so it’s perfect to binge.
What have you been binging lately?!
