The winter months bring both happiness and misery. On one hand, you have cozy nights and a winter wonderland; but on the other, you have blustery temperatures, and worst of all, dry skin.
When we talk about winter skincare, the focus is almost always on our faces. Navigating the what seems like an endless maze of how to keep your skin glowing and supple when it is freezing outside for months is exhausting. But you can’t forget about the rest of your body. Those elbows and knees need some extra loving too during the winter!
I pulled together my go to winter beauty essentials! Whether that be for your face, lips, body, or hair!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
This stuff is legit!!! It took me awhile to really bite the bullet and start using it in my routine, and I am SO HAPPY I did! It is technically a sleeping mask, but I put it on before bed and while getting ready in the morning. It is so moisturizing and my lips haven’t felt chapped or dry since using it consistently with chapstick during the day! Also it tastes so good! Everyone needs kissable lips before Valentine’s Day right?
Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator
My absolute go-to moisturizer for years! I use this year round. It is not heavy, but still leaves your skin so soft. I use it morning and night! It has no scent so it won’t leave your face smelling like a flower, which I like in a moisturizer. It also looks great under my makeup primer and makeup- which is always a plus during winter especially.
Peter Thomas Roth Hydra-Gel Eye Patches
These are a bit pricey, but HOLY MOLY they are worth it! My makeup guru friend Sam in NOLA recommended these, and all I can say is wow! Focusing on my eyes has been a new thing for me, and I never thought I had bad under-eyes until I started using these golden miracles. I have noticed a difference almost immediately!
SOL DE JANEIRO Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
One of the best part of this product is the smell. It instantly transports you to a Caribbean island! This firming cream is awesome! It helps smooth and tightens skin. I apply after the shower on my thighs and bum to help tighten it all up. This is also my go to on pool or beach days when I will be in a bathing suit!
Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops
This is my ride or die self tanner. I use these tanning drops once a week to keep me from being pasty during the winter! I love these drops because I am not a self tanner fan and am extremely picky! I add a few drops to my daily lotion, rub it in and then apply as normal. It is that easy. It leaves a very seamless natural color that I like. I also add a couple drops to my face moisturizer. It adds just the subtle color I am looking for in the winter. I use shade medium!
Jade Roller
If you do not have a jade roller yet, then you are really missing out. It is just so relaxing to rub on your face in the mornings. I keep mine in the fridge and it takes it to a whole new level. It helps with puffiness and redness, and to be honest with y’all it feels too good to not incorporate this into my self care routine. At least I keep it real?
Summer Fridays Jet Lap Mask
When I first got this product as a sample I was thinking it was only for when I was traveling. Boy was I wrong! Don’t get me wrong, definitely apply before a long plane ride to keep moisturized, but this stuff just proves to keep your face hydrated. I apply before bed and let it soak all night, or if my face just really needs a little self care and some extra hydration.
Moroccan Rose Shea Sugar Scrub
One of the steps that I always seem to forget is exfoliating my body. Especially with the brutal winds in Illinois, my skin tends to get super dry in the winter. By using a sugar scrub in the shower, I have noticed how much my skin absorbs my lotion more and my skin has been super soft! I especially use this before I shave to ensure a clean smooth shave with no razor bumps!
Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask
Another thing that gets really dry in the winter is my hair. I do get highlights every few months to maintain my bright blonde, but adding a hair mask weekly has kept my golden locks luscious and smooth! This one smells AMAZING! It is not too heavy to keep my hair oily. My hair holds oil like it is it’s job, so I need a hair mask that will be light. This one does the trick!
What are your winter beauty essentials!? I love trying new products!
