One of my favorite footwear in the winter months are over the knee boots. OTK boots I think can be extremely flattering, they keep your legs warm, and they are so versatile. I was skeptical when they first became trendy because I am short and have very muscular legs. I did not want to walk around with sausage legs and look like a hooker. However, I quickly learned that I look like neither of those two things!
First let’s talk about my favorite OTK boots.
My #1 most worn pair of OTK boots that you’ve likely heard me talk about is Good Night Macaroon. They don’t slip, are flattering on my leg, makes your legs look a mile long, are the greatest quality, the perfect heel height, and I could wear them all day and be comfy.
I will say if you live in a snowy area, definitely purchase some protector spray to make sure you do not damage them. I love this one, and spray all of mine and Mitch’s suede shoes with it and it works wonders! We spray all of our leather shoes with this to protect them as well.
These boots come in three colors (black, tan, and gray). I own the black and the tan colors and could not be happier. They are a bit of a splurge, but I think they are worth it, and I find myself wearing them again and again. I find that they are true to size in my experience. Also, Good Nigh Macaroon usually has good sales going on. I got 40% off when I bought mine, making them under $100!
How to wear over the knee boots for any occasion–11 over the knee boots outfit ideas.
OTK BOOTS WITH A LEATHER SKIRT:
This is one of those outfit formulas that you can really adapt to wear anywhere – date night, girls night, work, brunch, anywhere. The formula is just top, skirt, boots–that’s it! The only thing you want to ensure is that there’s still a BIT of skin showing in between the top of the boot and the bottom of the skirt, otherwise you’ll look a little frumpy.
OTK BOOTS WITH A SWEATER AND MINI SKIRT:
Another skirt, top, boot combo. This one is great in the winter months to help keep you warm. I love a chunky sweater with skirts. My tip is to tuck your sweater into your bra to avoid all the extra fabric in your stomach area. It’s lifechanging I promise!
OTK BOOTS WITH LEGGINGS AND A SWEATER:
I think this is the perfect outfit for a night out when you want to be comfy, casual, but still stylish! I think OTK boots with leggings are like PB&J–you just want to make sure that you’re wearing suede boots with faux leather –leather on leather will look too intense. I love the extra shine to these leggings!
OTK BOOTS WITH JEANS AND A STATEMENT JACKET:
On those chillier days I love sporting a statement jacket. Whoever said outerwear is boring. This was probably my favorite Christmas present from this year. It combines all of my favorite things (pink and cheetah!) and is so classy and feminine. I love the color combo with the tan OTK boots.
OTK BOOTS WITH AN ALL BLACK LOOK:
Black on black with black boots is a no-brainer. I rarely find myself wearing an all black ensemble, so if it’s feeling a bit too much for you, you can add a jacket in a contrasting color!
OTK BOOTS WITH SKINNY JEANS AND A SWEATER:
Pretty much a winter staple look. But make it your own with a fun color or print sweater. Even add a colorful pom pom hat! If you are swapping out the tan boots for black, I prefer a darker denim wash with black boots. I feel like it elongates my legs more than with a lighter wash.
OTK BOOTS WITH A JACKET AND A MINI SKIRT:
One of my favorite style tips: When in doubt, add a jacket. It adds a great twist to any outfit. Added bonus, it will keep you warm too! You have seen me in this Draper James jacket all fall and winter long. I love that it’s reversible too!
OTK BOOTS WITH A BODY SUIT, MINI SKIRT, AND CARDIGAN:
If you want to dress down an outfit, add a chunky cardigan! This would be a perfect look for a day date, brunch, work, or any daytime look. It will keep you warm and cozy because most cardigans are like wearing a blanket. This one is so soft, and the added glitter details are so fun.
OTK BOOTS WITH A DRESS:
You can wear OTK boots with any dress: shift, sweater, bodycon, pretty much any dress that hits mid-thigh you are golden. Remember, to always make sure there is some skin between the bottom of your hem and the beginning of the boots.
OTK BOOTS WITH A BLANKET SCARF
I LOVE a blanket scarf. Not only is it one of the only wears to literally wear a blanket in public, it adds texture to your look. Any color scarf would do, but I love pops of color and prints.
OTK BOOTS WITH SKAKESKIN SKIRT
This look is another great going out look. If you had a winter bachelorette party, going out on the town, and even date night, this look is a great option. This skirt is so fun and flirty. Also snakeskin is EVERYWHERE!
