Happy football season y’all!! While I will forever be cheering on my Purdue Boilermakers, my soon to be husband is one of the biggest Alabama fans since growing up in Mobile, Alabama, so I now have another team to be cheering for this year! Roll Tide Roll! Nothing against my Boilers, but Bama does usually have a better record.
I love football season. In college, it was the best time of the year. At Purdue we had a tradition called Breakfast Club, and everyone would dress up in costumes and go to the bars at 6AM. It was some of my best memories of college football season, but now if you ask me to get in line at a bar at 4:30 in the morning, I will take a hard pass.
Take a trip down memory lane with me and check out a few of my favorite Breakfast Club costumes!
Game day essentials are needed at any football game. This is the time when the community comes together to cheer on their school and show off their fan spirit. From the tailgates, to the game, to the post-game celebrations, here are my game day essentials that everyone needs in order to survive your day full of college football. Team Gear
You can’t head to game day without wearing something that represents your team. Grab your favorite school t-shirt, jersey or simply sport the school colors. In the beginning months pair it with jean shorts and cute sneakers. But when the temperatures drop throw on your favorite chunky cardigan, jeans, and booties. Keep the outfit comfy, yet cute, because you know you’ll be taking pictures all day, and you may even end up on the big screen at the game.
Clear Bag
Make sure you check the stadium’s rules and polices on their website before packing your purse or bag for the day. With almost every type of event requiring a clear bag now, I rounded up some cute options so that you can be trendy and still follow the rules because bringing a ziplock bag in with you isn’t the cutest accessory.
Sunglasses
Trust me, if you forget your sunnies at a football game, you will be miserable – just saying from personal experience. How can you watch a game if you are squinting the whole time? Especially if the sun is beating down on you? Make sure you grab them on your way out the door, even if it looks like a cloudy day!
Small Wallet/Card Holder
With many stadiums having stricter policies enforced, a small cardholder or wallet is needed to fit in your clear bags! All you really need is an ID and some cash/card anyways so the less space it takes up, the better! I have found these little things amazing, I love bringing them with when I am going to bars or out for the night on the town. So much better than carrying your bulky wallet.
Chapstick
Especially when the temperatures start to drop, my lips get so dry! Chapstick is my best friend, and is in every bag I own, and in my car. I am a huge fan of Burt’s Bees chapstick. But make sure you throw one in your bag before you are gone all day!
Comfy Shoes
Picking the correct pair of shoes is everything during game days! From the moment you start tailgating, to the end of the game, you will be standing on your feet, so comfy shoes are a must. Keep it cute and comfy with these sneakers and booties!
Thankfully we still have some more warmer weeks before the temperatures start to drop so you won’t be needing heavy jackets yet. However, even recently I realized it’s starting to get cooler in the evenings, so if it is a night game I would grab a cardigan or jean jacket just in case. But when the temperatures really start to cool down, a knit pom pom hat is my favorite go to accessory to complete my football game day look.
