When summer begins fading into fall and hot days are replaced with the crisp, cool ones it only means one thing: BOOT SEASON!
Boot season is highly anticipated for a reason. They bring an extra touch of style to every outfit they’re paired with, are versatile, and feel like they capture the essence of fall in one fell swoop.
Boots are just as essential to fall as leaf piles or Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and as necessary to your wardrobe as your favorite cozy sweater. Each year I like to take inventory on my boots and see what classic styles are still in tip top shape, which ones may have seen better days (thanks Illinois winters), and if there are any trends I feel are worth investing in.
As we all know, I have a HUGE shoe problem, so I have narrowed down the 8 types of boots I think every girl should have in her wardrobe for fall. From classic ankle boots to fun animal print – I have thought of them all! Whether your fall plans include heading to the pumpkin patch with the fam or planning cozy date nights, this lineup of the best fall boots will keep you comfortable and looking cute.
8 Types Of Boots You Need For Fall
Black Bootie
If you don’t already have a pair of black booties that you love in your wardrobe, they’re the cold-weather shoe worth investing in—you can wear them with anything, and they give off an effortless, chic finishing touch for any outfit. They’re the wear-everywhere, timeless pair of shoe that can be paired with any trend. I have a whole post on styling black booties here!
I wear my black booties to the ground each year. So I typically try to invest in a good pair every other year. I like having both black leather and suede for different types of looks. But if you are looking for just one pair of staple black booties – leather is your best bet!
Animal Print
Middle school Brittany is jumping for joy. I have been an animal print fan since the Cheetah Girls. It took a little hiatus, but we are back and better than ever. I believe that animal print is here to stay. Snakeskin booties have been on the rise for a couple years now. But crocodile and cow print have stepped up their game as well. I think an animal print bootie elevates any outfit. It is a great way to spazz up a boring neutral look.
Knee High
I have always been a fan of over the knee boots. I think they are flattering and dress up any look. However, they look to be on the outs, and knee high boots are the way to go in 2021. Being short, I was skeptical of how they would hit me, but I love them. I have more muscular calves, so even my skinny jeans will not fit tucked into mine. But paired with dresses, skirts, and leggings they are super cute! Also, western boots have been all the rage this year too. A western knee high boot is so so cute!
Chelsea
This classic boot comes in all heel heights and toe shapes, but the most distinguishable feature of a Chelsea boot are the elastic side panels. The shoes often have a tab on the back of the boot, making it easier for you to pull on. Chelsea boots are super easy to style, and tend to be super comfortable. I have both higher heel and flatter Chelsea styles. They pair with just about any outfit, and I promise you will get your wear out of them each fall. This year the emphasis on the chunky sole is more than ever. I personally am not the biggest fan of the chunky boot style. I prefer more of a sleek bootie, but don’t be fooled, I still found some that have made their way into my wardrobe!
White Bootie
Something about a white bootie that instantly makes your outfit chic. I think it is the perfect accessory to any fall look. Sweater and jeans? White bootie. Fall dress? White bootie. Flannel? White bootie. I am pretty picky when shopping for white booties. It took me quite some digging to find my perfect pair. I am a stickler when it comes to my booties and quality. I will *rarely buy a fake leather bootie. 9/10 times I will spend the money for the real leather because they look better, last better, and just are overall worth it to me.
Neutral Bootie
Probably the booties I wear the most in my day to day life during the fall is a neutral suede bootie. They go with everything, and are truly a fall staple. I like mixing different shades into my wardrobe. Light tan, tan, caramel, brown are all great shades of a neutral bootie. These are a must have in my fall wardrobe.
All Weather
O the joys of living in the midwest is that we get to experience all 4 seasons. Don’t get me wrong I love having 4 seasons, but with that comes all the different kinds of weather. Rain, sleet, snow, slush. As much as I love a sunny fall day, I know that there are just as many gloomy rainy fall days. For these gloomy days your fashion does not need to come to a halt. As much as curling up with a good book and a fall candle and not leaving your house sounds on these days, some days you just have to keep doing what you got to do. All weather boots are a necessity.
