Not everyone is Irish but thankfully one day of the year you can sure pretend to be. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, but most of the festivities will be happening this weekend!
Whether you are heading to the city to watch them dye the river green, or you’re like me and want some more chill Irish fun there are plenty of Irish pubs in the area to check out!
Grab your green and get ready to enjoy some green beer, Guinness, and some good old Irish Pub fun!
Quigley’s Irish Pub – Naperville
Located in the heart of Downtown Naperville. This will be the spot on St. Patrick’s Day! Stop in for a pint, music and Irish fare. Be sure to check out their dog friendly patio in the warmer months! Quigley’s pub was designed and built in Ireland and then shipped across the pond here! The interior includes an authentic antique fireplace and bookcases from Dublin.
Ballydoyle Irish Pub – Aurora and Downers Grove
An Irish Pub classic in the Chicago suburbs! With three locations in the Western Suburbs, Ballydoyle is the place for St. Patrick’s Day! The Ballydoyle locations are all decorated with “reclaimed” items from Ireland, such as old wooden doors, windows, booths, tables and chairs. They also feature a large stage in where local bands and larger touring cover bands play several nights a week. Bonus points: the Aurora and Downer’s Grove locations have great patios!
James Joyce Irish Pub – Berwyn
You can’t get more authentic than a pub owned by some guys from Ireland. They have gained quite the following even outside of the Berwyn neighborhood. Tuesday is pub quiz night. However, no food is served, just a great list of Irish (and other) beers and libations.
McNally’s Irish Pub & Kitchen – St. Charles
St. Charles’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade is back this Saturday in downtown St. Charles starting at 10:30am. This is where you can find me this weekend! Just a homey Irish Pub with good Irish food. They have live music all weekend long so be sure to stop by!
Finn McCool’s – Schaumburg
Not your typical Irish Pub, but just as fun! Finn McCool’s goes beyond typical pub food with unique menu items, plus daily food specials. Plus they have happy hour every day! Open for lunch, dinner & late nights with your pals. The Finn Fest 2022 is happening this weekend-March 17th! There will be a heated tent, live music, and food and drink specials!
Peggy Kinnae’s – Arlington Heights
A true gem of downtown Arlington Heights. Even if it isn’t St. Patrick’s Day this place is always a good time! However, they have SO much fun events happening this weekend and leading up to the 17th! Check them all out here! From Colleen Gallagher’s Famous Irish Soda Bread, to Irish dancer performances, to live music, to even a family day – this will be the place to celebrate!
Irish Thyme Pub – Plainfield
The Irish are coming to downtown Plainfield. This new Irish Pub is ready to help you celebrate! Featuring traditional Irish cocktails and fares, this is definitely a place to check out!
O’Sullivan’s Public House – Forest Park
I honestly didn’t know that Forest Park had a huge Irish community! I was there last weekend for their parade and WOW I was so surprised at how many Irish pubs they have! No joke there is like 8-10! My favorite that we stopped by was O’Sullivans! It was a typical Irish Pub but so so fun! I recommend definitely celebrating in Forest Park for their parade in 2023!
What are you St. Patrick’s Day plans!?
