35 Pink Dresses Perfect for Kentucky Oaks Day

08.27.20Fashion3

Next Friday is the Kentucky Oaks. Normally ran the first Friday in May, is shifted to the first Friday in September. The eve of the Kentucky Derby!

In the past five to ten years, the Kentucky Oaks has become {almost} as big as the Kentucky Derby especially when it comes to getting all dolled up.

Even though we won’t be able to attend the Oaks in person, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate at home or get ahead of the game and buy your dress for next year! Finger crossed it will be back in May.

In the past, Oaks was more of a locals day but like I said, it’s become quite the event and now people are venturing in to go both days. The actual Kentucky Oaks race is America’s premier race for fillies (a filly is a girl horse just in case you didn’t know) with the winner getting a garland of lilies, cause you know, lilies for the fillies. The Lily is also the name of the delicious drink of the day (FYI – you can get them on Derby day too – just be careful if you’re wearing white because it will leave a mark if spilled).

Oaks Day is all about pink! Which if you know me, is right up my alley. 80% of my closet is pink.

Why pink?

Guests are encourage to wear pink to show support for breast cancer awareness.

A few years back, Churchill Downs began using the day as a Breast Cancer Awareness event and encouraged all attendees to wear pink in support. They put on a Survivor’s Parade full of breast and ovarian cancer survivors right before the Oaks goes off. However, the parade is cancelled this year. I am really sad to miss that because it seems so special!

Moral of the story, you’re going to want to wear pink to show your support.

I rounded up 35 pink dresses of all shades that would be perfect for Oaks Day! If pink isn’t your jam, you can always wear a pink headpiece, shoes, accessories, etc! Don’t forget to put your date in pink as well!
