Hello February – the month of roses, red and pink galore, and a whole lot of love. But I like to celebrate all forms of love in February. Romantic love, friend love, family love and the one that is often forgotten – self love.
We all know that we are supposed to love ourselves and are told to learn and practice self-love. But sometimes that is easier said than done. We live in a world where there is constant comparison, competition, and expectations for women, that sometimes loving yourself can be hard.
How you love yourself literally impacts every aspect of your life. Learning to love yourself is the most important skill you could master. So spend this month of love focusing on the most important relationship: the one with yourself.
28 ways to love yourself more this month
- Dress up in your favorite outfit and put on your favorite lipstick – instant confidence boost!
- Make a list of five things that always make you happy and put it on your mirror, desk, or fridge where you’ll see it often – read through it every day.
- Buy yourself flowers – queue Miley’s new song!
- Identify your love language and then do one thing to show yourself love in that language.
- Revisit a childhood hobby – whether that is painting, playing a sport, or anything!
- Splurge on the item you’ve been wanting – because you deserve it!
- Get outside and go for a walk – find a self love podcast to listen to.
- Wear fancy silk pajamas – I promise it is an instant mood boost
- Make a playlist of all your favorite songs and have a solo dance party.
- Unfollow or mute every account that doesn’t make you feel inspired, encouraged, or good about yourself – read that one again!
- Say “no” when you want to say no – if it isn’t a “hell yes” then say no.
- Eat the rainbow by trying fruits and vegetables in season – your body will thank you.
- Take yourself on a date or set the table with candles and cook yourself a fancy meal.
- Do something that would make you proud of yourself – speak up at work, do a random act of kindness, spend time focusing on your goals.
- Watch your favorite movie – for me it is The Little Mermaid!
- Make a promise to yourself and then keep it all month long to form a new habit – work out before work, eat an actual breakfast, meal prep 3 times a week, only drink on the weekends, call a friend once a week, anything!
- Treat yourself to a facial or a massage – your skin/body will thank you!
- Sit in child’s pose or practice meditating whenever you’re stressed.
- Say “thank you” instead of “I’m sorry”.
- Sneak greens into sauces, dips, and dressings – I promise you won’t know they are there!
- Write a list of the things you love most about yourself.
- Start an inspirational book.
- Try a workout class you’ve never done before.
- Forgive yourself – Maybe it was an embarrassing moment that haunts you to this day or maybe it was a serious mistake that you’re still letting define you.
- Make yourself dessert, and eat every last bite!
- De-clutter your space – focus on one space at a time.
- Surround yourself with amazing people and let go of the ones that aren’t.
- Just be you!
