27 Rules for 27

04.01.22Lifestyle5

Season 27: episode 1.

In honor of my 27th birthday today I am reflecting on my year and how I want my next trip around the sun to look!

27 Rules for 27

  1. Stop settling for the bare minimum. In all aspects of my life: relationships, friends, work.
  2. Daily walks. With warm weather around the corner, I want to dedicate 15-30 minutes of unplugged time to get outside.
  3. Romanticize my life. I’m shifting my mindset and am now actively creating space to make my life a little more awe-inspiring, a bit more beautiful, and filled with so much more love for myself.
  4. Treat my home like my sanctuary. Not only is this through decor, but also by decluttering, organizing, cleaning the dishes before going to bed.
  5. Watch more sunsets/sunrises. I want to take time to slow down and soak in every day moments.
  6. Try something new every week. A new activity, a new recipe, a new restaurant, a new cocktail, a new anything!
  7. Expressing my feelings more often. Whether that is at work, with my friends, or in dating. I am someone who wears my emotions on my sleeve, but want to be sure I am expressing those feelings.
  8. Celebrate everything. Every day is a reason to celebrate. This year I want to celebrate everything and anything: big milestones, little things, everything!
  9. One day a month: total self care day. Buy myself flowers, go for a facial, do something I think is fun and treat myself. Dedicate a full day to just me!
  10. Volunteer once a month. Do something once a month for someone else. Send someone flowers, baking something for someone. Service always makes me feel better. Makes my life more full.
  11. Read 2 books a month. This is already a New Years resolution of mine. But I want to get out of my comfort zone with genres and topics.
  12. They do things without the approval of others. I am in charge of my own life so I should make decisions for myself and not need the approval of anyone else if it doesn’t concern them.
  13. Wear the bright pink lipstick just because I like it. Goes back to just doing things that make me happy.
  14. Travel to 2 new countries. I am trying to hit 30 countries before my 30th birthday. I am currently at 24!
  15. Make sure every *why* is followed with a *why not*? Sometimes I need a reminder of what I’m capable of.
  16. Slow Sunday mornings. No more Sunday Scaries. Unless I have a prior engagement I want to embrace the beauty of a slow Sunday morning.
  17. Be extra. Everyone that knows me knows that I am just a little extra. May it be my clothes, shoes, or anything, but it is time that I own my extra!
  18. Fake it till you make it. Sometimes you just gotta do it.
  19. Do things for me. Ignore the outside voices: make those plans, eat something you want, post whatever my heart desires.
  20. Self Affirmations. Every morning in the mirror!
  21. Chill Friday nights. Order thai, open that bottle of wine, have “that” shower, get in my PJs and watch that movie I’ve been waiting to. It is ok to do nothing on a Friday night.
  22. Date yourself. Newsflash: I don’t need an excuse to treat myself to a drink or dinner. I want to get more comfortable at being alone.
  23. Continue to prioritize my mental health. Going to therapy monthly, journaling, and recognizing my anxiety are all things I will continue to do.
  24. Say yes. Yes to that first date, yes to that work opportunity, yes to those plans.
  25. Say no. On the contrary know when to say no. Be selfish and know that sometimes it is ok to say no.
  26. Celebrate with champagne. Do you ever feel fancier than with a glass of bubbly. All celebrations this year will be celebrated with bubbly.
  27. Be selfish. This is the only time in my life that I have no one to take care of myself besides myself. I need to soak up this time and truly put myself first.

I am excited to see what year 27 will bring!
