With the colder weather (mostly) behind us, it’s time to start celebrating the color, warmth, and vibrancy that comes with the transition from winter to spring.
If you’re anything like me, it may be easy to let this gorgeous season slip right past you. I am a total summer girl, so sometimes I like to just fast forward. But I am trying to slow down and enjoy this new season. With busy tasks like tax season or patiently waiting for the snow to melt, sometimes we forget to stop and smell the literal roses which have FINALLY started growing again.
I rounded up 20 of my favorite spring activities. Keep reading to learn how you can make the most of this new spring season!
- Transition your closet to spring. Lighter fabrics and brighter colors – pack away your big heavy turtlenecks and swap for floral midis – groundbreaking, I know! Switch out your snow boots for white sneakers and embrace the warmer weather that is coming.
- Pack a picnic. Whether you’re out with your partner, gathering for Saturday lunch with your friends, or bringing your book to the park for a solo date—food always tastes better al fresco.
- Buy yourself the flowers. Miley said it best—don’t wait for someone else to shower you with peonies or tulips. Go to Trader Joe’s, pick up a few bouquets, and DIY your own arrangement. I really want to take a floral arranging class this spring!
- Sip on cocktails on a rooftop. I don’t know what it is about rooftops, but I love them! Change up your happy hours and opt to meet at a roof top. This is also a great date idea too! You and your partner can enjoy a springtime cocktail with a great view and if you’re lucky you can catch the sunset together.
- Start an herb garden. This is one of the most surprisingly easiest thing you can do this spring, and I promise you will love it! You can make it as small or as big as you have space for. Your pizzas, pastas, salads, and every dish will just taste so much better with fresh herbs.
- Attend local festivals. In the spring, cities and towns across the country come alive with a range of outdoor festivals. From movies to art to the most random celebrations—they’re a perfect excuse to get outdoors.
- Throw a tea party. Y’all know I love hosting, and I think I need to have my own tea party! Tons of flowers, tea snacks, tea cups, and the whole ordeal!
- Buy some new candles. It’s time to pack up the winter pine and sugar cookie fragrances. Grab some revitalizing new floral candles — like lavender, peony, or fresh lemon — and give your space a new scent.
- Declutter your space. Nothing like giving your home a good spring cleaning. Organize, clean, declutter, and refresh your space.
- Head to the ballpark. Whether you are heading to Wrigley or Guaranteed Rate, grab some friends, take advantage of cheaper ticket prices, and head to the ballpark.
- Paint your nails in pastels. Pink, mint green, pale yellow, lilac, light turquoise — yup, pastels are adorable! Enjoy these candy-colored nails while they are still in season.
- Buy a new plant. Because it’s spring, and our spaces deserve a little green.
- Go bike riding. Riding bicycles on a warm day with a slight, cool breeze? Sounds like a fun day! Try renting bikes for the afternoon and taking a tour of your city, or simply go for a ride through the neighborhood. I have my very own pink bike, Peggy, so if anyone wants to go riding let me know!
- Visit a farmers market and try seasonal fruits and veggies. Nothing says spring like fresh strawberries. Enjoy a day milling around a Farmer’s Market tasting all the freshest fruit and veggies at their peak this season.
- Plan a spring trip. I’m heading to the west coast next week for a spring break birthday getaway and cannot wait!
- Watch the sunset. The days are getting longer, so long gone are the 4pm sunsets! So take advantage of the longer days and head out to watch the sunset!
- Visit a winery. Rosé season is approaching! I will be swapping out my heavy dark reds to a brighter rosé and bubbly. Enjoy a warm spring day sipping on wine.
- Watch the Kentucky Derby. First Saturday of May is the running of the roses. Grab a hat, make a mint julep and watch the most exciting 2 minutes of sports!
- Hit the pickleball court. Something that I have been saying that I want to try. Looking for a partner!
- Find a tulip festival/farm. Tulips are my favorite flower, so I am always on the hunt for the best ways to see them. I really want to head up to Holland, Michigan to see them!
What are you most excited for this spring?
