My heart says fall, but the weather is still in summer mode. Does anyone feel me? I am in full fall mode already: pumpkin spice, fall candles, the only thing I need is the matching cozy weather so I can start wearing some fall outfits! Transitioning from summer to fall can seem daunting, but I think I have mastered how to do it!
I am sharing 18 outfit ideas that are perfect for when you want to dress for fall, but it still pretty warm outside!
My favorite way to transition to fall when the temps are still warm is to have warm weather items in fall colors. Think olive green, rust, mustard, maroon, and neutrals. Having pieces in these colors scream fall even if it is a short sleeve dress!

18 Transitional Fall Looks
Leather Shorts
Leather shorts have quickly become a fall staple in my wardrobe. I picked up these tan ones at Soho Boutique in Milwaukee, and I have been waiting for the temps to drop just enough for me to wear them. I think they are so flattering, and elevate any look.
I styled them twice here! Once with a black turtleneck sweater tank, for when it is still just warm enough. Once temps drop a little more, I styled with a chunky sweater. Shorts and sweater weather is some of my favorite. These will take me well into winter by throwing on a pair of tights.
Fall Graphic Tee
My favorite place for graphic tees is Pink Lily Boutique. They have so many fun holiday themed ones. I picked up this one this year and it is perfect for this time of year. I can wear this so many ways. Right now I can wear it with shorts and sneakers, and then I can swap the shorts for jeans and booties – throw on a hat, and you have a cute fall look.
Blazer + Denim Shorts
I have been LOVING the blazer trend this year – especially the bright colored ones. Shockingly I picked up this hot pink boyfriend blazer when I thought I would be going back to the office. It will be fun to style when going to work, but for now with a bodysuit and shorts is the way to go.
Fall Florals
One of the easiest ways to start transitioning into fall fashion is with fall florals. I am talking florals, but with fall colors. Florals are not just for spring and summer. I think these more muted colored florals are just as cute. It is an easy way to dress for fall because most of these pieces are super lightweight and meant for warmer temps.
Dresses and booties are my favorite fall fashion combo EVER – throw on a hat and you have my ideal fall outfit. I am a dress girl to begin with, so I don’t let the chilly temps steer me away from wearing them just yet!
Midi Skirt + Leather Jacket
Y’all know I fell in love with midi dresses during the summer, and I am excited to style more for fall. I have yet to find the perfect fall midi dress for me, but I do have this silk midi skirt that is fun to style. I love adding an edgy leather jacket draped over my shoulders to give me a cool girl look (even though I am so not a cool girl). Make it casual with sneakers, or dress up with booties and you have a complete look!
Chambray Dress
Chambray seems to be everywhere this fall, and I am not mad about it. Chambray is the perfect option for any casual dressing. This dress is so easy to throw on for nearly any occasion. Dress it up with booties, or down with sneakers and you are good to go!
Neutral Dress + Statement Booties
Neutrals seems to be more prevalent during the cooler months. Y’all know I always gravitate more towards colors, but especially during this time of the year I find myself grabbing my neutral pieces in my closest. But don’t worry pink is considered a neutral for me! A great way to spruce up an outfit is to add fun accessories. With a neutral dress, I love adding a pair of statement booties to add something fun.
T-shirt Dress+ Sneakers
T-shirt dresses are such a great thing. They are comfy, easy to throw on, and cute at the same time. When it is still warm outside I prefer to wear sneakers. However, when it is a little chilly throw on a jean jacket, or wrap a flannel around your waist and swap for booties. Want to go a little edgier? Throw on a leather jacket, and you are ready for a night on the town!
Mini Skirt + Blouse
Skirts are so flirty and fun. Normally I will opt for a dress, but I have to many skirts in my wardrobe that I am trying to give them more love recently. Skirts are perfect for transitioning to fall because you have so many options of what to wear on top. You can do a short sleeve bodysuit, silk blouse, lightweight sweater, the possibilities are endless. When fall officially gets here, swap for a chunky sweater (do the bra tuck for a seamless look), and you will stay warm and look cute doing it.
Biker Shorts + Oversized Crew Neck
Finally a look into what I will be wearing most days thanks to work from home life. This is such a comfy combo. If I’m being honest I will also have a pair of fuzzy socks on to compete my cozy look. If I were to leave the house in this, I would throw on sneakers and oversized sunnies.
