15 Ways to Romanticize Your Life Everyday

05.18.22Lifestyle4

I am all about main character energy. I have been working hard on myself for over a year. I have been through a lot, and have been falling in love with myself more and more every day.

Each day gives us countless opportunities to romanticize our lives. What I’ve learned from befriending myself and falling in love with the person I’ve uncovered, is that it comes down to a matter of perspective. I’ve shifted my mindset and am now actively creating space to make my life a little more awe-inspiring, a bit more beautiful, and filled with so much more love for myself.

Some might call it extra, but I prefer to call it romanticizing my life.

What Does it Mean to Romanticize Your Life?

Romanticizing your life is basically making mundane, everyday things more glamourous.

Your morning cup of coffee, your drive to work, the smell of the fresh air outside… all of these things can get routine and, to be honest, boring. But when you romanticize your life, these things can become exciting.

To me, romanticizing my life means taking extra time to appreciate the “small things”. It means being 100% present in the current moment. It means taking an extra few minutes to make myself feel special. And it means learning to live my life to the fullest.

15 ways to Romanticize Your Life:

How to romanticize your morning

1. Romanticize Your Wake Up

When you wake up, take a moment to be present and get some fresh air! We’re talking a full-on movie scene here. Throw open your blinds, open your window, and take a deep breath.

This sounds really silly but I have been doing this and it makes me feel like I am living in a fairytale. Also make your bed and put on all of your fancy throw pillows. Starting your day by making your bed just sets you up for success!

2. Dress up your morning beverage

Personally, it is a chai tea latte for me. I make my morning coffee into a moment… A moment for me to sit, be present, and enjoy myself.

Step 1: Create Your Dream Cup

I have been taking some extra time in the morning to make my coffee a bit more special. Maybe that’s adding my favorite cream, making a latte, or adding a yummy syrup flavor. Taking that extra minute to make something that I know will make me happy is worth it.

Step 2: Drink with Style

This is an easy one because I feel like most girls have a slight obsession with cute mugs. I have been obsessed with the glass mugs lately, perfect for my iced chai latte!

3. Romanticize Your Morning Movement

Whether you like to walk, do yoga, go for a run, or hit the gym, ROMANTICIZE IT!

Picture yourself as one of those fancy fitness influencers, working hard and feeling good! Put on a super cute workout set, grab a fancy water bottle, and you will feel 100% more confident. When I romanticize my morning movement, I have noticed that I feel more confident, enjoy it more, and work WAY harder! Whether that is taking a spin class, going on a hot girl walk, or doing some yoga in your living room.

4. Romanticize Your ‘Get Ready’ Routine

Make it an EXPERIENCE! Play your favorite song (you know what I mean… the one that makes you feel untouchably confident), get in the right mood, and make your get-ready routine FUN!

Use that jade roller, apply that brightening eye mask while you do your skincare. When it comes to makeup, use that highlighter that you save for special occasions, and add an extra swipe of mascara just because.

I find that when I romanticize my skincare, hair, and makeup routine, I always feel way more confident for the day too. That is a major added bonus!

5. Romanticize Your Breakfast

Taking some extra time to make and plate my food makes me feel so incredible! Treat yourself like you are being served at a cute little cafe every time you sit down to eat breakfast.

You know those adorable juice glasses you have, or that little pastry dish. Pull those out for when you make breakfast. Try a new avocado toast recipe, or use that olive oil you brought home from Italy. Just added little elements will make a huge difference!

How to romanticize your day

1. Romanticize Your Drives

Easy ways to romanticize a drive:

  • Bring your favorite drink
  • Pack a snack
  • Listen to a Podcast or Audiobook
  • Open your windows or sunroof
  • Play good music and SING
  • Take in the views

2.  Romanticize Your Hydration

DRINK FANCY WATER!

I am obsessed with fancy water. Okay, fine. The technical term for it is “infused water”… but fancy water is more fun. 😉

Not only is drinking infused water good for you, it feels like a special treat! Throw in some lemon slices, strawberries, cucumbers, or whatever you fancy.

Need I mention the bottle you drink out of? Glass water bottles are super chic, but I am a Yeti lover through and through – but I at least add a cute metal straw!

3. Romanticize Your Workday

I know you are probably thinking, how can I romanticize my work day? No matter where you work, there are ways you can romanticize your day to make it feel a bit happier. The secret to happiness is finding joy in the little things, regardless of the outside world. That is exactly what we are doing when we romanticize our workday.

Some ideas for how to romanticize your workday:

  • Crack a window
  • Make a cute vision board to keep you motivated
  • Dress nicely
  • Organize your computer and set an aesthetic background
  • Take work outside
  • Add desk details to make your desk cute

4. Romanticize Your Responsibilities

No one likes, chores, but you can romanticize them a little bit to make them better! I personally love to clean my home with a killer Disney playlist. It helps me dance and sing along while I scrub away! Also lighting a candle is the perfect mood setter. Dare I say there is nothing better than the feeling of clean sheets?

Reorganize your fridge with some clear plastic draws. I personally just did this, and I feel so good about it! Marie Condo your pantry, add individual labels to whatever your heart desires.

5. Romanticize Your Outfits

You know when you wear an outfit you absolutely love and you feel like your day goes 100x better? Yup, that’s what I’m talking about here.

Keep that up.

Why NOT feel like the most confident and beautiful version of yourself every day? Pick outfits that make you feel INCREDIBLE and utilize them! I love putting together outfits in my head, so when I have a situation where I need a killer fit, I know exactly what to put on!

How to romanticize your night

1. Romanticize Your Dinner

Do you need to try that new posh fancy restaurant to romanticize your life? I mean at times that is always fun, but you can romanticize your meals at home too.

For me that is blasting Dean Martin’s That’s Amore and other Italian music, cracking open a bottle of wine, lighting a candle, and cooking myself a meal (usually it involves pasta).

You can make yourself feel that special any day of the week. This may involve taking the time to make a dinner you love, setting the scene for dinner, plating your dinner aesthetically, and taking time to be present at your meal.

2. Romanticize Your Post-Dinner Relaxation

I used to HATE that awkward time between dinner and bedtime. I felt like I should be doing something but didn’t want to “work” anymore… it just felt like a waste of time and made me anxious.

Until I started romanticizing it! Now I look forward to that leisure time every day.

Depending on my mood, my energy, and the time of year, I will do some different things.

Some of my favorite ways to romanticize my life after dinner:

  • Sit outside and watch the sunset
  • Have an outdoor fire
  • Take a bath
  • Watch TV
  • Make your favorite dessert
  • Journal and reflect on the day
  • Plan and set goals for tomorrow

These things are all things that make me feel happier and relaxed. Because of this, I have come to really enjoy my downtime after dinner. It helps me to wind down and end the day on a good note.

3. Romanticize Your Bedtime Routine

Having a proper bedtime routine is crucial for your happiness, health, and getting a good night’s sleep.

Choosing a wind-down routine that fits your needs is the best place to start. For me, this is one of the best ways to romanticize your life. At the end of the day, I feel ready to show myself some extra TLC.

I love to make my room as cozy as possible: candles, blankets, etc.

An ideal night concludes with a 7 step skin care routine, but we all know that is not the reality. But I do try to stay off my phone before bed. I am a big reader and try to read for at least 30 minutes before bed. That helps get my brain tired and ready to sleep.

How do you romanticize your life?!
