Friends, it’s soup season. I’m a big time soup fan. I don’t know why soup is cool in 2021, but I feel like more than ever soup is having its moment. Once the air gets crisper here in Illinois, a bowl of soup just makes you cozy and warm inside. So it’s probably not surprising that I’m pretty much always on the hunt for great soup recipes that I can make at home and eat for lunch all week long. I rounded up 15 stellar options that are anything but boring and will keep you warm for the entirety of soup season.
1. Grandpa’s French Onion Soup
I had to start off with my favorite of all time soup recipe: my grandpa’s French onion soup! We make it every year, and it is cheesy, gooey, and just so good. I think French onion soup may be my favorite soup of them all!
2. Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup

Anything with peppers is a win in my book! Bell peppers are so versatile and yummy. I’ve made a similar deconstructed stuffed peppers but this soup recipe looks delicious!

To be honest I am not the biggest squash person so those soups are not as appealing to me, however when I came across a sweet potato soup, this is more up my alley! This super silky smooth and creamy soup is packed with sweet potatoes, some onions, garlic, carrots and seasonings. Make it in one pot in about 30 minutes.
6. Chicken Noodle Soup
No soup round up would be complete without the classic chicken noodle. A childhood favorite, an adult favorite, something about a bowl of chicken noodle soup is just nostalgic. This recipe is quick and ready in 20 minutes!
7. Creamy Roasted Mushroom Soup
This soup is so creamy, rich, hearty and comforting! The secret to this mushroom soup recipe is roasting the mushrooms in garlic and fresh thyme first!
8. Joanna Gaines’ Creamy Chicken Poblano Soup
We all love Joanna Gaines, and anything she makes is delicious. Her chocolate chip cookie recipe is my new favorite! This soup is creamy and gives a good kick that I think would make for a perfect wintertime dinner.
9. Greek Avgolemono Soup
Avgolemono is the classic Greek rendition of chicken soup, with bright lemons, filling chicken and rice, and rich and creamy soup thanks to a few fresh eggs. Yum! I have never heard of a soup like this, but it sounds yummy! I will definitely be trying this one out.

Sausage tortellini soup makes a simple, filling dinner everyone will enjoy. It will make an even better lunch the next day! This delicious soup is loaded with Italian sausage, cheese tortellini, vegetables and spices.
11. Lemon Asparagus Soup with Parmesan
Lemon asparagus soup with Parmesan is a smooth and creamy soup topped with blanched asparagus tips. Onion, celery, garlic, potato, and asparagus come together to create a soup that is creamy without any cream. I know this is usually a summer soup, but I just love corn chowder so I had to include it in my list! You’ll get transported to the east coast with this creamy soup in minutes! YUM!
