12 Winter Date Ideas To Fight The Winter Blues

01.23.23Lifestyle3

Date night in the summer is so easy! Roof top bar! What time is the reservation? Beach day! Let me grab my sunscreen. Concert! When and where? I feel like the possibilities are endless when the days are warmer and it doesn’t get dark at approximately 4:15pm.

There is, however, a plus side when it comes to going on dates in the winter: Everything is a little bit more romantic and cozy. A fresh snowfall paired with hot chocolate and good chemistry? There’s nothing “blue” about that.

Here are 12 winter date ideas to keep the spark in your dating life and fight off the winter blues.

Fondue Night

Nothing is more romantic that fondue! If you are looking to impress your date, host a fondue night. Copycat Melting Pot Cheese Fondue Recipe is the easiest to make and so yummy. Plus who doesn’t love cheese? End the night with chocolate fondue to really set the mood. Make it romantic by setting candles or keep it light and laugh while feeding each other cheese dipped items!

Candle Making Class

Everyone loves a good candle, and I think dates where you can learn and so something are so great! You can learn a lot about a person when they have a chance to get creative. This would be fun if you are just newly dating someone or if you have been together for eternities! Make it extra fun and each of you create a candle for the other person to bring home. That way when they light it, they think of you! Super cute and cheesy, I know!

Go Sledding

Sledding, skiing, snowboarding you pick your prerogative. Give out all of the Apres Ski vibes. Personally I have never been skiing or snowboarding, so sledding would be the safest choice for me. This is a great outdoor date idea, especially if you are active. After spending all day on the slopes, cuddle up with some mulled wine or tea by the fireplace!

See a show

One of the best times to see a show (of any kind) is in the winter because it is an indoor activity. Whether you choose to dress up for the evening and head to the theatre or keep it casual and go to a comedy show you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and the entertainment, too. This is the perfect winter date idea if you’re just getting to know someone since there is less pressure to keep the conversation flowing because you’ll be watching the show.

Cook Dinner At Home or Take a Cooking Class

If you are really looking to impress someone, then cook them dinner at home. They say the way to a guy’s heart is through his stomach, but I am saying the same for the girls. There is nothing more thoughtful than when someone cooks you dinner! Even better if the two of you cook together. My go to cooking playlist is Italian Cooking Music on Spotify, open a bottle of wine and get your hands dirty in the kitchen together. Then set a nice table and enjoy your meal!

Also taking a cooking class together is such a fun date!

Have a Spa Day

A relaxing day of pampering is actually perfect for the winter months! Book a couples’ massage for an intimate, relaxing treat for you both. If you want to be really unique book a day at Aire Ancient Baths or if you are beer lovers at Piva Beer Spa and soak in a beer tub together. Personally I want to do the beer soak so bad! Take a break from the cold, the stress in your life, and share some relaxation with your partner. You could always bring the spa to your home – try face masks, giving each other massages, etc…

Host a game night

A little healthy competition is always good! If you’re looking to stay in, but want to change up your classic take-out, movie, cuddle, cocktail of activities, bust out the board games for a night of fun that has some throwback flair, as well. There are so many games that you can play with just two people. Bring out your favorite snacks, make some drinks, and put your game face on. Make it a double date too and invite a couple other couples over to make it extra competitive and fun!

Find a Cozy Cocktail Bar

When a place has that cozy atmosphere, the night can turn magical. It is dark, warm, drinks are stiff and it just feels like a hug. The perfect distraction to whatever Mother Nature has brewing this winter. Head to a cozy cocktail bar this winter to warm up and melt away that numbness in your fingers and toes. This is a perfect date night idea. Bonus points if you stumble upon a speakeasy!

Visit a Bookstore

Grab coffee before and then spend an afternoon strolling down the aisles of a bookstore. I promise you will feel so rom-com. It’s also an opportunity to learn about your partner’s interests. Every section of the store is a new conversation starter (bet you didn’t know their favorite children’s book). End the date with each picking a book for your each other to read!

Go Bowling

I promise no one looks cute in bowling shoes and almost no one is actually that good at bowling, so this is a no-pressure, fun date idea that you can do during the day or at night. Bowl a few games and then play some of the arcade games to round out this lighthearted winter date. This is a great double or group date option too! I think I want to join a bowling league once I have a partner. It just sounds so fun!

Tour a Brewery

Nothing will warm you up quite like sipping on a few beers at a brewery. To make this date even more interesting, sign up for a tour. Most places offer free tours, but if not, tickets are typically pretty affordable and usually come with a free beer or samples. You’ll learn all about the process of making the beer and the history of the company you’re visiting. I think brewery tours are super fun. Then spend the rest of your time there sampling the different beers and sharing a flight. Here is my Illinois brewery guide!

Try a Sip and Paint

Trust me I am no Picasso, you do not need to be good at painting to enjoy this date. If you are looking to hone into your artsy side, mark this unique date night in your calendar. Sip on some wine, eat some cheese, get in touch with your creative side, and leave with a masterpiece. I just laugh my way through these because I am so not a good painter, but it is fun to get creative with your boo!

What are you go to winter date ideas!?
