After what is feels like an eternity of movie nights in and bundling up to go to dinner, it is time to refresh date night, and with the weather warming up (FINALLY!), spring date ideas are practically endless.
When planning a date night this time of year, outdoor activities are a must. Not only because sipping a cocktail on a patio is probably my favorite outdoor activity, but also because activities that are meant to do outside brings a whole different kind of element to dating. Whether it is a first date, or if you have been with your partner for years, nothing is better than getting some fresh air and combining date night.
Spring offers so many romantic, easygoing, and fun ways to spend time together that you are bound to have a good time no matter what you do, but here are some of my personal favorite spring date ideas.
Pack a picnic
A picnic is *THE cliche spring date night idea, but for good reasons so. It is one of the easiest, cheapest and most romantic things you can do with your partner. All you have to do is pack a bag with snacks (I always opt for a charcuterie board or any finger food that doesn’t involve silverware), drinks (rosé preferably), music, a game, and a blanket. Find a nice place in a nearby park (or even in your backyard) and enjoy the simplicity that is a picnic.
Head to a baseball game
Cubs or White Sox, baseball is back! Even if you don’t care to watch the game itself, going to a game is one of the best spring date ideas. A warm sunny afternoon at the ballpark is a great way to spend a day with your hunny. It’s easygoing yet full of energy, and there is actually a lot to do at a baseball game besides watching the game the entire time. Walk around to explore the stadium, pop into some of the shops, grab drinks and food. Whenever I go to a game with Michael, I just eat my way through each inning.
Visit a brewery
If you’ve been around for awhile, you know that visiting breweries are my favorite date activity and therefore be included in every date round up I create. It is the perfect idea for any season, but especially in the springtime because a lot of breweries have patios so you can enjoy your brew outside. Check out your local breweries that are dog friendly too! I love trying new spots, ordering a flight so you can have a taste of a bunch of different beers.
Play pickle ball
A little bit of friendly competition and endorphins? Yes, please. There’s a reason pickleball has become one of the most popular sports in the last few years, and it’s because it’s just downright fun. You can play with two people which makes it a perfect date idea for couples who want to do something active and playful all at once. I have been bugging Michael to play with me (mostly because I have a cute outfit to play in). Challenge each other to a few games and whoever loses buys beer after!
Go rollerblading
Take your typical bike ride, or walk up a few notches and take a stab at rollerblading. Hit up a second hand sports store and pick up a pair of blades and head to a park. I used to go rollerblading all the time as a kid, so I think this would make a super fun day date.
Sip on drinks on a rooftop
Hands down my favorite outdoor activity. I don’t know what it is about rooftops, but I love them! Change up your happy hours and opt to meet at a roof top. This is also a great first date idea too! No pressure, but still good vibes! You and your partner can enjoy a springtime cocktail with a great view and if you’re lucky you can catch the sunset together.
Find a drive-in movie
As the nights begin to get warmer, take movie night outdoors. Find a local drive in, or check to see if any patios are having any outside showings. Bring a blanket, grab some snacks (and wine!) and curl up under the stars. You can even host a movie night at home in your backyard!
Pizza night on the patio
Speaking of at home dates – not every date needs to be going out! I feel like starting in the spring I will try to eat as many meals and I can outdoors, I just love it! For this date night, head to the grocery store (or farmers market) and get all the fixings for an at home pizza night. Throw on some music, pour the wine and make your own pizzas. Enjoy your masterpieces out on the patio (or pack a little picnic) for some dining al fresco!
Go to a winery
Going to a winery is always a good idea IMO, but they are especially enjoyable in the spring when you can get away with sitting out on the patio and watching the sunset with a glass of rosé in hand. Head out to a local winery or take a trip to one close by, try different seasonal wines, and enjoy a romantic evening together. This would also make the perfect Sunday afternoon date as well. Check to see if any wineries are offering live music on the weekends too!
Go for an ice cream run and a walk
A simple, but foul proof date night. A classic ice cream run! I personally eat ice cream 365 days a year, but the spring and summer are the perfect times to go get a cone. Try heading for a walk around town, or through a park after you grab your ice cream for an easy going date. Extra perks if you catch the sunset!
What is your favorite spring date idea!?
