10 Margarita Recipes To Try For Cinco De Mayo

05.04.20Brews & Bites2

Get yourself a big bowl of guacamole or queso – or both! Tomorrow is Cinco De Mayo!

What goes best with your favorite tacos? Margaritas of course!

You can’t celebrate Cinco De Mayo without a refreshing margarita.

Mitch and I will be celebrating with guacamole, fish tacos, and MARGS of course! It is a bold statement, but margaritas are on my top 5 favorite drinks. They are just so stinking good, and there are so many different varieties and types. You can rarely catch me ordering a normal lime margarita. I like to mix it up and try different flavors.

I thought I would round up 10 different margarita recipes to try. I can’t even narrow it down to see which one I will try tomorrow, I might just have to make them all!

Spicy Margarita

My go to margarita during quarantine has been a spicy marg. Now I am such a baby when it comes to spicy food, so the fact that I have been making spicy margs on the regular is not my norm. You can always feel free to add more jalapeño for spice, so I call this my semi-spicy margarita.

  • 2 shots tequila
  • Juice from one lime
  • Splash of orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • Ice
  • Shake, garnish with jalapeño, and serve (makes 2).

Strawberry Basil Margarita

  • Muddle in shaker:
  • 6 basil leaves
  • 2 large strawberries
  • Add to shaker and shake:
  • 2 shots tequila
  • Juice from one lime
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • Ice
  • Stir in a splash of club soda/sparkling water, garnish with strawberry and basil leave & serve (makes 2).

Watermelon Margarita

  • 2 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1/2 cup ice, plus more for serving
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 2 shots tequila
  • salt/sugar
  • lime for garnish
  • Place watermelon and ice in a blender and blend.
  • Pour watermelon juice, lime and tequila in a pitcher or large glass and stir together.
  • Rub a lime wedge around the edge of a glass, dip cup in salt or sugar to coat the rim.
  • Put ice in the cup and pour watermelon margarita over the top. Garnish with lime and serve. (makes 2)

Pineapple Chili Margarita

  • 1 tsp. + 1/4 cup Tajín chile powder
  • Ice
  • Place the ¼ of a cup of Tajín chile powder on a small flat plate.
  • Take one quarter of a lime and rub it along the edges of two glasses. Immediately place the rims of the glasses on the plate with the chile and twist to coat.
  • Combine the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, pineapple juice, chopped pineapple, 1 tsp. of Tajín chile powder, and 1 cup of ice.
